A couple of months ago, a gag petition to add Scooby-Doo's Shaggy to Mortal Kombat 11 took on a life of its own, perpetuated by the viral Shaggy memes which depicted him as a godlike entity. The virality of the memes has since died down, and while Shaggy will never officially be added to Mortal Kombat 11, he has appeared in a few fighting games via mods. Jump Force got a Shaggy mod some time ago, but the latest to get its own Shaggy mod is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Thanks to Demonslayerx8, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players can get their hands on Shaggy and try out his power against a myriad of characters such as the Duck Hunt Duo, Link, Samus, Pikachu, and so many more. Those who are interested in the mod should know that it is currently only available for his Patron supporters and his Discord server, but there will be a public release of this mod on June 7, 2019.

Demonslayerx8 posted some occasional updates on his Twitter about his progress making this mod including UI updates he's made, editing issues he's fixed, and how he has approached the entire process. As seen below, the mod is now playable, with Shaggy being a character conversion of Captain Falcon. This leads to some strange cries of "FALCON PUNCH!" and an ultimate ability that doesn't make a ton of sense, but with enough suspension of disbelief, it's just nice to see Shaggy in a fighting game.

Of course, to make the mod even better, some commenters have asked about voice mods and an update to the final smash for Shaggy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Adding in some "Zoinks!" and other signature phrases would go a long way for this mod, if nothing else, but it remains to be seen if that's something Demonslayerx8 will be doing.

In the meantime, while Shaggy will likely never be an official character, there are a few Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character theories out there. The latest suggests Banjo-Kazooie's Banjo, Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa, Doom's Doom Slayer, and Dark Souls' Artorias will be joining Joker as DLC, but for now, it's all up in the air.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
