There was a palpable amount of excitement leading up to the final Sakurai Presents for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the showcase would finally reveal the last DLC character to come to the game. While it delivered on the announcement and more introducing Sora to the roster, Sakurai also gave fans an update on the upcoming Amiibo releases for the game.

Amiibos are in constant demand and fans have been waiting to hear about when they can expect the next batch of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate statues to release. According to the presentation, Steve and Alex from Minecraft will be releasing sometime in Spring 2022.

Sakurai didn't have the actual figures with him to show on camera, but there were two graphics showing what fans can expect from the two Minecraft characters. Sakurai added that he's seen the mock-ups for both statues and that they capture the image of each character well.

The presentation announced that Nintendo is planning on releasing Amiibos for the rest of the available characters in the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 including Sephiroth, Pyra, Mythra, and Kazuya. There weren't any finalized dates on when fans can expect the rest of the Fighters Pass to come, but the next character will likely release sometime later in 2022. Based on the fact that Pyra and Mythra were listed as individual characters, it also seems likely that the two will get separate figures as opposed to being paired together for a single Amiibo release.

Notably, Sora was absent from the Amiibo plans that the presentation showed off. He's the last character included in the Fighters Pass Vol. 2, so it might be possible that Nintendo wants to get everything squared away for his release before it starts announcing an Amiibo. It would be quite odd to make statues for everyone in the roster except for him, but there could be unknown licensing issues with Disney preventing Nintendo from creating an Amiibo. As this was the final Sakurai Presents, it seems like fans will need to keep an eye on upcoming Nintendo Directs for a potential Sora Amiibo announcement.

In addition to the announcement that Sora would be joining the fight, the presentation also confirmed that Kingdom Hearts games would be coming to the Switch. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts 3 will all be coming to the console as Cloud versions of the games. There has been no release date given for when fans can expect to play the titles.
