It may be difficult to believe, but Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is nearing its second anniversary. The Nintendo Switch fighting game was originally released on December 7, 2018, making its anniversary this coming Monday. Nintendo has remained silent regarding the forthcoming anniversary, but the Japanese Super Smash Bros. Twitter account did confirm it will once again be offering a unique Spirit Board as a celebration of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's special day.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate second anniversary Spirit Board went live on December 4. It's only planned to last for three days, so Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players should jump on soon to make the most of it. For the duration of the event, all experience points and SP earned as part of the eve will be tripled, and there will also be a special "Re-Challenge" item available in the event.

With the Spirit Board ending on December 7, which is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's anniversary, some are hoping there is more planned. For the time being, there has been nothing confirmed by Nintendo. Given the company's track record, that isn't likely to change, as Nintendo simply isn't as involved in these types of events as fans may prefer.

It will hopefully be a short wait before Nintendo has more Super Smash Bros. Ultimate news to share, regardless of its second anniversary. Many are hoping that Nintendo will participate in The Game Awards 2020 and make a new DLC character announcement. This is something Nintendo has done before, so anything is possible, but for the time being Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players can enjoy the second anniversary Spirit Board.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now on Nintendo Switch.
