Fans of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are looking under every nook and cranny for information on the next DLC character for the massive fighter game. Back in January of this year, Nintendo announced that Fighters Pass Vol. 2 was on the way and 6 new fighters will join the game. Since that very moment, fans have been wondering who will be joining the bout next.

Nintendo already revealed that the first character will be from Arms, although it didn't clarify which character exactly. Beyond that, no one knows who will come next. But now, many fans are wondering if Sakurai himself, the game's director, has been teasing something on his Twitter page.

Sakurai has been tweeting images from the page every single day lately, which is not something he used to do in the past. The images are stills from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, often comical in nature, sometimes beautiful shots of characters with backdrops of sunsets, and more. At first, it would seem that Sakurai is simply promoting his game or having fun with fans, but players are wondering if he is hinting at something more.

Because the daily images in question are all taken with fighters, stages, and items that are already in the game, it may be unlikely that Sakurai is hinting at any new DLC character. Instead, it may be that he sees himself as a bit of a photographer, and he's just having fun with the in-game photo mode. The images are completely random and don't seem to be connected with one another. But if there's a master sleuth out there that can connect the dots, then all power to them. Some fans have already found apparent leaks that point to Bigby from The Wolf Among Us joining Ultimate, if he was somehow hinted in these images, that would be impressive.

Sakurai has been working remotely on high-security projects partially due to the COVID-19 crisis. He most assuredly is working on new content for the game, but at the moment he looks to be enjoying himself with these daily images on Twitter. Fans are definitely hoping for new information about Ultimate, as January was that last time they received anything in relation to character info.

Other fans are genuinely concerned with online issues, as #FixUltimateOnline was trending on Twitter recently. As someone who seems to be rather involved on social media, it's doubtful that Sakurai didn't notice the community crying out. The online experience has been lacking in services, systems haven't worked properly, and most importantly, the connection/netcode has been so bad that it is nearly unplayable at times. Many love the excitement of a new fighter in Ultimate, but also would prefer that online issues get resolved sooner rather than later.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for the Switch.
