Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been a hit with players as the latest iteration of the fighting franchise has introduced more characters and more fun. While there is a huge character roster in the game, many fans have fighters they would like to see in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. With rumors of a Nintendo Direct event later this month, speculation about who is coming to the game has begun and some believe that the Nintendo site confirms that a new character will be announced soon.
Since the introduction of ARMS' Min Min, many players have wondered whether more spirit characters will become playable in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Alongside this speculation, a change to the website for the game has many fans expecting an announcement soon, although the identity of the new fighter is still largely unclear.
In the wake of the reveal of Min Min in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the "Fighter" tab has been removed from the site which has been traditionally a sign that a new fighter is about to be revealed. A Twitter user, Shadow, noted the difference and they believe that it is connected to an upcoming fighter reveal. Alongside rumors that an event revealing a new character is coming soon, many believe that the announcement will be coming at the next Nintendo Direct.
Nintendo Direct has been used to reveal DLC fighter before and with that in mind, it follows a consistent pattern of announcements at the event. Alongside a pattern of the "Fighters" tab being removed before a new character is added many will be starting to expect news. However, some fans will want to have more clues than a tab being removed and rumors before they start waiting for the next Nintendo Direct which does not have an official date at the moment.
Many will hope that a Nintendo Direct event arrives soon and rumors have suggested that it should come late in July. Yet this has not been confirmed and it is cast into doubt the more time that goes by with no announcement. In terms of a fighter reveal, this tab does suggest change but there may be another reason why Nintendo is changing the website which could range from UX to something more radical.
Two years after the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate the game is still a great source of excitement for fans. Many will hope to have more fighters to increase the longevity of the game, but exactly when players get a new character remains to be seen. A lot of fans seem to be banking on an announcement of a fighter coming this month because of the site changes and the Nintendo Direct rumors.
