Super Smash Bros. games have introduced a variety of features to stay fresh over the years, and the Spirits in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have proven to be consistent feature that has stuck with fans, with regular updates bringing new Spirits in the form of Spirit Boards and/or Spirit Events. These have allowed characters from series that otherwise would not be represented in Smash to finally make their way to the game in some form.

Earlier this week, fans noticed that they had to received news of a new Spirit Event in Ultimate. Many fans began to speculate that this would tie into some sort of Nintendo Direct event, since the delay of Spirit Events has previously meant that the game was waiting for a Direct presentation to announce a commemorative Spirit Event, much like the one for the Super Mario Bros. 35th anniversary. However, a brand new Monster Hunter Rise Event has just been announced for the game.

Over on Twitter, the official Japanese account for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate announced the coming of a Monster Hunter Rise Spirit Event, bringing along 3 new Spirits for players to obtain. Despite being announced a bit off the usual scheduled announcements, the new event is still timely, considering Monster Hunter Rise officially released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch just last Friday.

The new Spirit Event will bring Spirits of Monster Hunter Rise's flagship Monster Magnamalo, as well as the Palamute and Palico. The effects and attributes of the Spirits themselves weren't officially announced, but it was revealed that the Event will start tomorrow on April 2, and will run for 5 days. These Monster Hunter Spirits also come just after Monster Hunter-themed Mii Costumes were added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate along with Pyra and Mythra as playable fighters. While fans speculated that a Monster Hunter fighter could come to Smash, the addition of the Mii Costumes and now this Spirit Event have made that very unlikely in the eyes of many.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now on Nintendo Switch.
