Big fans of the Pokemon Rowlet can now use a mod to add the Grass/Flying type Pokemon to the roster of fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Smash and Pokemon fans are excited about the idea after seeing a video demonstrating what Rowlet can do.Added to the series for the first time in Pokemon Sun and Moon, Rowlet proved to be a popular starter among fans. It also holds the rare honor in being brought back as a starter Pokemon in a spin-off game, Pokemon Legends: Arceus.RELATED: Pokemon Fan Makes Rowlet Art Based On Real Life OwlsA fan of Rowlet, Pokemon, and Smash, BeyondSmash, has now demonstrated a mod that replaces fellow pocket monster Jiggypuff with Rowlet. Smash Bros. Ultimate's Jigglypuff is floaty, makes it a good choice for Rowlet, as it can be seen flapping its wings and gently flying around. Rowlet essentially has the save moveset as Jigglypuff here, but the mod pays careful attention to detail, adding unique animations and even voice lines of the Pokemon to make it feel more unique to the small bird.

Setting up mods for games on the Nintendo Switch takes a bit of work, but for players who were disappointed to not see their favorite Pokemon make the cut, it's a good opportunity. Of course, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's roster is already one of the biggest in fighting games, giving players plenty of options to choose from and practice with. However, no matter how large the roster, many players who hoped for fan-favorites from multitudes of game series didn't see it happen. Up until the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate reveal, players were holding out for everything from new Pokemon to the inclusion of Master Chief in Smash. Development on the game has ended, so mods like these are the only chance at fulfilling those wishes.

After game releases spanning multiple decades starting with Super Smash Bros. for the N64, the series has gone quiet. Game director Masahiro Sakurai seemed ready to move on to new things, and he has indicated during prior discussions that there are no current plans for another Smash Bros. game at all. While it seems unlikely that the Smash series will never see another entry, it's likely going to be a very long time before that becomes a plausible possibility. Thankfully, due to dutiful modders, even characters who have emerged or gained popularity since the final game have the potential to be added to the title as playable fighters like Rowlet.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for Nintendo Switch.
