Nintendo released Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in December of 2018, and it has since become one of the most popular games on the Nintendo Switch, and the best-selling fighting game of all time. One of the reasons for this immense success was the impressive lineup of fighters players had to choose from. Recently, one fan wanted to pay tribute to the fighters found in the game by recreating them in a Minecraft world.

In a Reddit post, a user known as PaddyTheLegend16 shared a video of their latest creation in Minecraft. In the video clip, the creator revealed that they had made all 90 of the fighters from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. One highlight of the design was that the artist chose a pixel art style for every character except Steve. They decided to make Steve resemble his appearance in Minecraft instead. In addition, the video served as a timeline for the Smash series, as the artist started with the original roster of fighters and worked their way up to the most recent additions. They even included Sora from the Kingdom’s Hearts series.

Ever since the game was released, Minecraft players have made many stunning creations. However, this new artwork from PaddyTheLegend16 takes fandom to a new level. With all 90 characters in the roster (including Sora), the amount of dedication displayed by the creator in making these sprites was impressive. While the artist didn’t reveal how many hours went into making each character, it was evident from the amount of detail visible on the models that the project took a long time to complete.

This new creation from PaddyTheLegend16 has become popular with the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate community on Reddit. With over 1,300 upvotes, fans were impressed with the amount of work the artist put into the designs of the fighters. While many enjoyed the design choices for each character sprite, some wanted the creator to continue the project and add variant skins, such as the Koopalings and Alph. In addition, many liked that Steve looked like he does in Minecraft instead of being a 2D sprite like the other characters.

This recreation of each character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate comes as Nintendo recently announced Sora from Kingdom Hearts was coming to the fighting game. The last DLC fighter, the character was revealed during an October 5th video presentation hosted by Masahiro Sakurai. Players can check out Sora in Smash Ultimate starting on October 18, though admiring this art could be a good way to kill time until his release.

It’s impressive to see fans recreate iconic characters in other games. With the completion of all 90 Smash fighters, it will be interesting to see if PaddyTheLegend16 decides to recreate even more Nintendo characters in Minecraft moving forward.
