Nintendo has revealed the next event available for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. To celebrate today's release of Metroid Dread arriving on Nintendo Switch, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is celebrating its launch with a new event. While Super Smash Bros. Ultimate recently had its massive final character reveal, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Nintendo announced three different Spirits will be showing up periodically on the Spirit Board throughout the new event, making this the first chance to get them.

This week will have a Spirit Board event featuring new spirits from Metroid Dread. After starting up the game, players will see the final message that new spirits from Metroid Dread will be crawling on the Spirit Board in the next event. These featured spirits will include Samus (Strengthen shooting items), E.M.M.I, (Strengthens driving), and a Chozo Soldier (Item Hitter) and will award bonus SP upon being defeated. Players will have five days to collect the new spirits before they are made unavailable for an amount of time.

Metroid Dread is the newest entry into the Metroid franchise. After the events of Metroid Fusion (2002), in which Samus wipes out the lethal X parasites along with planet SR388, the Galactic Federation receives a video transmission from an unknown source indicating that the X is still alive. After nearly 20 years, Samus is continuing her adventure and it is no wonder that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate wants to celebrate in that release.

For those unfamiliar with the Spirit board process, occasionally, special events involving spirits fitting a specific theme will occur. Last week for example players saw a tournament-based theme for characters with wings, and the week prior, Smash Bros. Ultimate hosted a Spirit Board event starring flowers. Specific Spirits who fit within the theme will spawn with the word "Event" displaying on their cards and defeating these spirits will grant bonus rewards that depend on the event. Most Spirit Board events have periodically appearing spirits where certain spirits.

On October 18, 2021, Sora will appear as the last DLC fighter and Doom Slayer will be one of the last Mii Fighter costumes. Unfortunately, new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate updates are drawing to a close. However, Nintendo hasn't confirmed that the Metroid Dread event will be its last Spirit event but fans could see a significant slowdown.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is available for the Nintendo Switch. The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Metroid Dread Spirit Board event will run October 8-13, 2021.
