Nintendo has been steadily updating Super Smash Bros. Ultimate since launch to fix balance issues and even add a new fighter. During today's Nintendo Direct livestream, Nintendo announced that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be getting it's big 3.0 update at some point this spring. Alongside the update announcement, Nintendo also gave fans a better idea as to when they can expect Joker from Persona 5 to join the fight.

While Nintendo was very vague and did little to give any clues about the 3.0 update, the big news of the announcement is that the Joker DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be joining the massive game roster by the end of April. While no abilities or gameplay were shown, fans did get a small glimpse of Joker's character model. The Persona 5 protagonist was shown from the shoulders down, so fans may have to wait a bit longer to see the full character model in action.

The Smash community has been frantically theorizing who the remaining DLC fighters will be. Leaks suggest that an iconic Dragon Quest character will be making an appearance after Joker launches. While Nintendo has made no official comment on who the future Fighter Pass characters will be, it did say that more information on the 3.0 update and future DLC fighters will be coming soon, so perhaps fans will not have to wait too much longer to see who else will be joining the roster.

While some Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans were disappointed at the lack of Smash reveals in the Direct, it's clear that Joker is coming along nicely and may very well be a great addition to the roster. If Joker can make it into Smash Bros. then the possibilities for future DLC fighters are endless. Fans will just have to wait a little bit longer to find out who will be the next big addition.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
