Ever since E3 2019, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Dragon Quest's Hero in the ambitious crossover fighting game. Unfortunately, Nintendo has been tight-lipped about when the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Hero DLC will come out, only offering a vague "summer" release window. However, a since-deleted tweet by Nintendo of Europe may have leaked the specific Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Hero DLC release date.

Earlier today, Nintendo of Europe sent out a tweet (captured in a screenshot by Nintendo Life) explaining that the upcoming 4.0.0 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will not be compatible with game replays from before 3.1.0. In the tweet, it recommends that players convert their replay data before downloading the 4.0.0 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which it says will be available on 7/31.

Since Dragon Quest's Hero is expected to arrive as part of the 4.0.0 update, it's safe to say that the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Hero DLC release date is Wednesday, July 31. Of course, this is assuming that Nintendo of Europe isn't mistaken. Luckily, fans won't be kept in suspense too much longer in regards to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Hero DLC release date, as official confirmation will soon come from game director Masahiro Sakurai himself.

Sakurai will be hosting a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Hero DLC presentation on Tuesday, July 30 at 6am PDT. The 22 minute presentation will reveal new details about what fans can expect from the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Hero DLC, and it's been confirmed that the character's release date will be a part of the presentation.

All things considered, it would be surprising to see the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Hero DLC slip from July to August. Then again, Nintendo may decide to release the 4.0.0 update on July 31, but hold off on actually making Hero available until a later date. There was a 7/11 pop-up display that actually hinted at an EVO 2019 release date, which would instead see Hero release anywhere between August 2 and August 4.

However, when one combines this deleted tweet from Nintendo of Europe with this Nintendo Switch sizzle reel that seems to highlight content coming in July, July 31 seems like the most realistic release date for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Hero DLC. With Sakurai's presentation only a day away, we'll know for certain soon enough.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
