There is a lot of speculation about the next DLC fighter for the world-popular Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and unless something drastic happens, all signs point to the next character being the last. Intriguingly, one popular online leaker for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate appears to have an idea about where this fighter could come from.

Nintendo leaker Samus Hunter has often been busy making claims about Nintendo Directs and sharing other insider info. As such, fans are often paying close attention to see if the leaker has details to share. In the case of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Samus Hunter seems to believe that the final fighter will come from outside Nintendo's walls.

Samus Hunter thinks there is an 80% chance that the next and last DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be a third party character. The insider thinks that all of the Nintendo upcoming releases will have Spirit Battles, but that the top Switch games have already been represented in Ultimate. The new opportunities come from third party games and partnerships. However, this only appears to be an educated guess and not inside information.

At one point, the Super Smash Bros. series was a love letter to Nintendo, with characters, music, easter eggs, and more coming from decades of Nintendo games. But now, thanks to the addition of Metal Gear Solid's Snake, Banjo and Kazooie, Sonic, Mega Man, Street Fighter characters, Pac Man, Castlevania characters, and so much more, the game has become something more. As such, it would make sense if the final fighter was a third party hero.

There are plenty of fans who are anticipating the last fighter will be first party. Specifically, the hope is that Waluigi will finally make his way to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate via the final slot. The Mario character has been waiting for just about two decades, and if this is indeed the last character for Ultimate, Waluigi's final opportunity would come and go if he misses the cut.

There is a lot of pressure with the next DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Nintendo and Masahiro Sakurai have confirmed that there will be no more fighter passes, so the game with the tagline "Everyone is Here" will come to a close rather soon. Sakurai himself has talked about retirement in the past, but it is perhaps more likely that he finally decides to work full time on other projects outside of Super Smash Bros., leaving the door open for others to take over the massively popular franchise. Whoever the final fighter is, it will be hard to ever top the roster and depth of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
