With the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate release date more than five months in the past, many fans have turned their attention to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC characters and making predictions about what fighters will be added to the game. Indeed, there have been many Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC rumors, and a new one comes from quite an elaborate fan-generated theory.

This new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC prediction originates from the Discord of YouTuber PapaGenos, and the content creator has since outlined the theory on his YouTube channel. As per PapaGenos' explanation, fans have reportedly discovered that searching certain character names, through Google Europe, followed by "Smash Bros. Ultimate" will yield an advertisement for the DLC Fighters Pass.

This has led these fans to speculate that the character names that generate a DLC Fighters Pass advertisement could, in fact, be the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighters. The idea here is that Nintendo of Europe has connected these character names to the site for purchasing the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass in preface of their official announcement and release.

After reportedly searching "hundreds of names," only five have returned the advertisement for the Fighters Pass. The now available Joker is one of the names to prompt the ad, and the other four are an eclectic bunch indeed:

  • Banjo (Banjo-Kazooie)
  • Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden)
  • Doom Slayer (Doom)
  • Artorias (Dark Souls)

Certainly, these Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character predictions should be taken with a great deal of skepticism, but there are some interesting aspects to the theory. For instance, players are expecting exactly four more characters to be added as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighters, which lines up perfectly with this prediction.

Additionally, a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC leak from February, which occurred on 4chan, indicated that Artorias the Abysswalker would be coming post-launch. This Dark Souls boss is very likely to be the most surprising of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC characters predicted in this theory, and the 4chan post is certainly a compelling connection.

Again, these Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC characters predictions are extremely far from official confirmation, but the methodology used to inform them is intriguing. Furthermore, this type of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC "leak" can still be fun, even if it does not ultimately materialize.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
