For weeks now, Nintendo has been rumored to be hosting a Nintendo Direct presentation on January 16. However, it's now been revealed that the rumored Nintendo presentation on January 16 isn't a Nintendo Direct, but rather a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate presentation that will spend 35 minutes going in-depth with the game's next DLC fighter. The presentation will be hosted by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game director Masahiro Sakurai, and it will go live at 6am PT on January 16.

While some fans may be disappointed that Nintendo isn't hosting a standard Nintendo Direct on January 16, others will be relieved to finally have the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC 5 character revealed. Rumors have been swirling for months about the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC 5 character, and it will be nice to finally have some clarification come January 16.

As for who the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character is, that's hard to say. There have been so many rumors that it's really difficult to even determine who the most likely possibility would be. However, there's one rumor in particular that stands out and could very well point in the direction of the ambitious fighting crossover fighting game's next DLC fighter.

Last week, a Capcom producer teased that Devil May Cry fans would have something to look forward to on January 16. Since the rumors had already been out about January 16 being a Nintendo Direct day, many fans connected the dots and came to the conclusion that this meant Dante would be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. While that may seem like an outlandish pick given the adult content in the Devil May Cry series, it's really not that implausible.

For one, Dante wouldn't even be the first character from an M-rated video game to have some representation in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Characters like Bayonetta and Solid Snake are already in the game, so seeing Dante added wouldn't be that big of a stretch. Not to mention Capcom already has multiple characters on the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster, including Mega Man and Ryu from Street Fighter. There's clearly a working relationship between Capcom and Nintendo, so it wouldn't be all that surprising to see Dante added to the game's roster.

Then again, we've been swerved by Sakurai before, and so the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC 5 character could end up being someone completely unexpected. Fans will just have to tune in to the presentation on January 16 at 6am PT to find out for sure.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
