During this morning's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct, there were a couple of announcements aside the in-depth look at the latest fighter, Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard. It was also announced that three new Amiibos for Chrom, Incineroar, and Simon Belmont would be hitting store shelves next week.

However, that wasn't the only Amiibo related announcement to come from Nintendo today. Two more Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Amiibos--Richter Belmont and Dark Samus--will be releasing early next year.

Amiibos for echo fighters Dark Samus and Richter Belmont will be out early next year; the two will hit store shelves on January 17. Nintendo has slowly been catching up on Super Smash Bros. Amiibo releases for a while now, with the returning fighters like Pichu only recently getting an Amiibo, but Nintendo hasn't delved too far into Amiibos for the echo fighters yet.

Echo Fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are characters that play very similarly to another character but aren't quite the same. Dark Samus is an Echo Fighter of Samus, while Richter Belmont is an Echo Fighter of Simon Belmont. Other Echo Fighters, such as Chrom, have been slowly getting released in Amiibo form, but generally Nintendo has been catching up with the new and returning fighters before making Amiibos for the Echo Fighters. Additionally, Nintendo hasn't even started creating Amiibos for the DLC characters, and with Terry being the fifth DLC fighter for the title, it still has a ways to go before it's caught up.

It's surprising that Nintendo is still supporting so many Amiibos this far since their initial release. Granted, with their typically low price of about $16, Amiibos are good collector's items, and often gives fans of underrepresented series some merchandise to buy. While the actual usefulness of Amiibos is debatable, it's clear that they're still fun little figurines that are easy to collect and show off.

That said, trying to make a figure of every character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is no small feat, even with the head-start from the Amiibo released for Super Smash Bros. Wii U. Eventually, though, Nintendo will likely release Amiibos for the DLC characters, and fans will finally get the Banjo-Kazooie Amiibo they've always wanted.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
