The developers of Crash Bandicoot are still holding out hope for titular character, Crash, to make his way onto the roster for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Fans have been hoping for Crash's introduction to the series for a long time, and seeing any message of encouragement from a developer will certainly have them excited at the prospect.

Super Smash Bros. has always had large number of characters from different games, but the latest installment certainly boasts the biggest character select screen to date, with 86 playable characters heralding from a multitude of titles and platforms. Crash has been a notable omission from the roster for some time now, with fans hopeful that the marsupial would join the Smash line-up even back in the days of Super Smash Bros. Melee in 2001.

It seems that fans aren't the only ones excited at the prospect of Crash's addition to Smash, as Lou Studdert, one of the Creative Producers for Crash 4, has stated in an interview "We all dream of that day, don’t we?! If I had any influence, I sure would love to see that as well." While Studdert goes on to say that the decision is, unfortunately, out of his hands, the idea of Crash joining the Super Smash Bros. roster isn't entirely unreasonable. Crash, along with Kingdom Hearts' Sora have been characters that the Smash community has desperately wanted added to the game for some time.

With the addition of characters like Minecraft Steve and Banjo-Kazooie, as well as Cloud and Solid Snake, Nintendo have been willing to introduce characters from varied games and platforms in the past. While some would argue that Crash Bandicoot is a less iconic franchise than something like Final Fantasy or Metal Gear, Crash 4 was a fairly successful title for developers Toys For Bob and the character is perhaps more well known than other Smash characters like the Wii Fit Trainer or Mr Game and Watch. While Toys For Bob is currently being shifted over to work on Call of Duty: Warzone, the enthusiasm by Studdert for Crash's inclusion in Smash is certainly positive for fans.

Having said that, Studdert's comments are hardly a confirmation, and with Nintendo's propensity to choose characters for the Smash roster in an unpredictable manner, it would be unwise to speculate too much. Expectations are always high for Smash fans when it comes to the addition of a new fighter, and while Crash's introduction would likely make a large number of people happy, ultimately Nintendo are the judge, jury, and executioner when it comes to which characters make it into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
