Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: How to Unlock Bowser

Bowser is regarded as one of the best fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and here is the quickest way that players can unlock him as a playable character.

According to professional players, Bowser, or King Koopa, is one of the best picks in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Considering that the game features every character from Super Smash Bros. history, that's some praise indeed. However, the character isn't available from the start, meaning that players will have to work to unlock him.

The Easiest Way to Unlock Bowser

The easiest way to unlock Bowser is to progress through Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's classic mode. In classic mode, players choose a character and complete a series of smaller battles before it culminates in a big boss battle. Upon doing this, players will get the chance to take on another fighter that hasn't been unlocked yet–defeat them and then they will be unlocked.

Unlocking Bowser through this mode shouldn't take long at all. Just need to complete classic mode as Donkey Kong, who is available right from the start of the game. This ought to take less than 15 minutes (on estimation).

How to Unlock Bowser Through VS Mode

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players can also unlock Bowser by playing through the game's VS Mode. VS Mode pits players against various fighters in order and when they're defeated, they become unlocked. Bowser is the third on this list of VS Mode fighters. Before reaching him, though, Ness must be defeated, and then Zelda.

It should be noted that there is a countdown between VS Mode battles (approximately 10 minutes). This means it could take on around 20 minutes until actually getting to Bowser. This makes it substantially shorter than unlocking characters like Luigi through the VS Mode method (Luigi is 33rd on the list), but it's still a bit longer than the classic mode method detailed above.

How to Unlock Bowser Through World of Light

The final method for unlocking Bowser in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is to go through the game's World of Light story mode. Bowser can be found in the Molten Castle Dungeon at the top of Cliffside Rapids. Essentially, defeat Bowser to unlock him.

Cliffside Rapids is a location towards the beginning of the World of Light mode. So again, while it won't take as long to unlock Bowser in World of Light as it will to unlock Sonic the Hedgehog, for example (Sonic's towards the end), it could still be hours until players reach Bowser through this method.
