Just like every year a new Super Smash Bros. is in development, speculations and rumors are in abundance – especially right before a large event like the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3). The latest Super Smash Bros. gossip is that the master of tactical espionage action himself, Solid Snake, will be returning to the fray for another round.
While the source, Reddit user DasVergeben, has a hit or miss history with leaks, he is sometimes right. He correctly predicted the existence of SoulCalibur 6 and has released early information on a few Injustice 2 DLC characters as well. He has been regularly submitting Super Smash Bros. leaks from his various sources online for months now, with his most recent rumor being that Solid Snake will be back for the newest title on Switch.
A couple weeks ago, he claimed to have heard that two long-time fan requests would be joining the roster. He says a credible source relayed that Ridley (Metroid) and Simon Belmont (Castlevania) would finally become playable characters. It is worth noting that none of what was leaked has been confirmed by Nintendo, and probably none of it will be until E3 begins next week.
The game will have a strong presence at the event, so a lot of questions should be answered there. Much of what attendees can expect this year, including a playable demo of Super Smash Bros., has already been laid out by Nintendo. Now it is just a matter of seeing how much Nintendo is willing to show audiences, though it is likely the company will hold onto a few characters to reveal in future Nintendo Directs presentations.
With rumors ranging from a few characters returning to all characters returning, there is a lot of anticipation building around Super Smash Bros. this year. All will be revealed when E3 begins next week, and we will be on hand to report every juicy detail.
Super Smash Bros. will be released on Nintendo Switch in 2018.
