Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has become one of Nintendo's bench-mark series. In fact, it was the highest-selling title for Amazon in 2018. The fan-favorite fighting franchise is a love letter to not only Nintendo, but third party gaming as well, as Masahiro Sakurai (the game's director) has used the series as a culmination point of gaming history.

Recently a YouTuber named FlashyPig created a video with an idea of who could be joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate next, and it's pretty impressive. The idea for the new character is "Steve" from Minecraft. FlashyPig is an animator, so this isn't a simple photoshop job. The entire video plays out like a mini direct from Nintendo itself.

The video starts out with Masahiro Sakurai speaking in Japanese, with an English translator. He even takes a jab at the many Fire Emblem characters, as the newest character Byleth is in the background. He quickly changes to talking about how excited he is to discussing the next character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and this is where the gameplay starts.

The animator shows Steve joining the battle, all with his own move-sets including building, wielding a pickaxe, a diamond sword, being put to sleep on his patented bed, using a bow and arrow, and more. Steve even has many different outfits from the game, including a creeper. FlashyPig even made sure to animate Steve's final smash, which involves an Ender Dragon.

With Minecraft being playable and popular on the Switch, and with Minecraft Dungeons coming to the Switch very soon, even as it may have been delayed slightly by COVID-19, Steve being in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate doesn't seem far fetched. For now, though, fans will have to settle for the video created by FlashyPig.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
