Everyone and their mothers (and probably even your mother's mother) knows that Nintendo will be revealing their brand new console in just a few weeks at this year's E3. Rumors regarding the Wii 2 have been flying all over the internet, and while an abundance of rumored details on the hardware have bombarded cyberspace, it's the software that will sell the system. That's why it's nice to hear a rumor that claims that a new Super Smash Bros. will be unveiled for Nintendo's new console at this year's E3.

The Great Gaming Crusade is the site that claims their sources have tipped them off about the the existence and upcoming reveal of the next Smash Bros.. This rumor isn't exactly a shocking revelation, as Nintendo has become infamous for releasing a new Super Smash Bros. installment once every console generation. If Nintendo has had a sequel to Brawl in development for their new system for a while now, there is a good possibility that the game will release in the system's launch window -- or better yet, it could launch right alongside Nintendo's Project Cafe.

Another installment of the Super Smash Bros. series seems like a dream come true, but there are a few reasons to doubt the rumor. The director and game designer on past installments of Super Smash Bros., Masahiro Sakurai, is still hard at work on Kid Icarus: Uprising for the Nintendo 3DS, and it seems difficult to believe that development on that game has slowed down enough for him to work on both titles. Sure, Nintendo could have enlisted the help of HAL to work on the game, but it seems unlikely that they would exclude Sakurai from a project like this.

It'll be interesting to see if there is any validity to this rumor at this year's E3, and hopefully we will see the triumphant return of Super Smash Bros. on the Wii 2 — or even the Nintendo 3DS. If Nintendo is working on a new Smash Bros., then they better have taken our list of the Top 5 Characters that Should Have Been in Brawl to heart.
