An Instagram user was able to capture an image of the construction underway on Universal Studios Japan’s Super Nintendo World. While there haven’t been any announcements from the theme park on when it will be open to the public, the Nintendo-inspired attractions look well on their way to being ready for the crowds later this year.

Announced by Universal Studio Japan in 2016, Super Nintendo World has been under construction and away from the public eye. Though some previews have revealed bits and pieces of the construction, fans have been excited to see more of what the park looks like. Now, thanks to one Instagram user, people are able to get an aerial view of how Super Nintendo World is turning out.

Instagram user imaiko02 posted a photo of Super Nintendo World’s construction progress from an overhead view. While it’s unclear if imaiko02 took the picture from a drone or while flying themselves, the image they captured shows that this section of the park is almost complete. This part of the park is mainly themed after Nintendo’s popular Mario franchise, and warp pipes and item blocks can be clearly seen scattered throughout the picture. The park will also feature a real life kart racing ride that fans are thrilled to try when the park opens.

Super Nintendo World is scheduled to open sometime later this year, but fans are unsure whether or not COVID-19 has affected this plan. The original plan said that the park could open as early as Spring of 2020, but the park couldn’t be opened at these earliest projections. However, since Universal Orlando is reopening next month, the plan for the theme park in Japan is likely to stay on track for this year.

With this reveal, fans are excited to experience Super Nintendo World for themselves. Even though the Super Nintendo World coming to Orlando is scheduled to be available to the public in 2023, this is a great start to expanding this section of the parks to other Universal Studios theme park locations around the world. Hopefully fans will be able to visit Super Nintendo World parks closer to home in the not so distant future.
