Super Nintendo World has been looming on the horizon for Nintendo fans after being teased for quite some time. Finally, Nintendo hosted a Direct centering on Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Japan hosted by Super Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto.

During the presentation, fans got a few amazing behind the scenes details about the park and learned about some of the attractions that attendees could see. Now, recent datamines have revealed potential character attractions coming to Super Nintendo World in the future, including Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong from the Donkey Kong series.

The news comes by way of @KRoolKountry on Twitter, who tweeted out a picture of the various stickers that were datamined from Universal Japan’s Super Nintendo World app. The stickers prominently feature both Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong in various poses, as well as riding on a minecart with the word “congrats” underneath. Additionally, there are stickers that feature DK barrels, a Rambi the Rhino icon, and the collectible KONG letters from the Donkey Kong Country series. Fans have seen the Super Nintendo World’s Super Mario attractions already, but it seems a Donkey Kong-themed expansion of some sort may be in the works behind the scenes.

During the Nintendo Direct showcase, fans saw a decent chunk of what the park will have to offer in Japan. One of the major attractions centers around a Mario Kart augmented reality ride, complete with Grand Prix trophies and Go Kart-shaped coaster seats. However, it’s very possible that this isn’t everything that Super Nintendo World has in store for fans after its grand opening. If the rumors surrounding a Donkey Kong-themed expansion are true, Nintendo could potentially continue to expand Super Nintendo World to include a plethora of other Nintendo IP.

The Universal Studios Japan location for Super Nintendo World opens in February of next year on February 4, 2021. The park was initially expected to open sometime during 2020, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the park’s grand opening had to be pushed back. Nintendo has plans to open other park locations outside of Japan as well, but those locations were naturally less prioritized compared to the Japanese locations. Nintendo has plans to open parks in California, Florida, and Singapore.

Unfortunately, the opening of these Super Nintendo World parks were delayed due to the pandemic, as well. This means that fans who want to visit Super Nintendo World as soon as it happens will have to visit the location in Osaka, Japan. Even then, there’s no telling how travel restrictions around the world will change in the coming months. Hopefully, the delays to the other various parks will give Nintendo and Universal Studios time to develop the rumored expansions, such as the Donkey Kong-themed expansion.

Super Nintendo World will open on February 4th, 2021, in Universal Studios Japan. Fellow Super Nintendo World complexes are currently in development in Hollywood, Orlando, and Singapore.
