Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania is quickly becoming an exciting game of the fall season with its October 5, 2021, release date. The E3 reveal of the brand new Super Monkey Ball title was a surprising and welcome announcement, as fans of the series have been waiting for a return of the franchise. And now, a new unlockable game mode has been revealed for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania.

Since the announcement of the game, SEGA and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have continued to trickle out information about the platforming party game. On top of general details, exciting and charming crossovers have been revealed, such as the inclusions of Sonic and Tails as playable characters and Jet Set Radio being a part of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania. But the fun does not end there, as recently the official Super Monkey Ball Twitter page shared aspects about the new Dark Banana Mode.

The normal construct of the Monkey Ball games has always been about collecting bananas, along with racing to the finish and not falling off the platforms. However, according to the recent tweet, the new Dark Banana Mode in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania will shift up the gameplay. In this mode, there will be 10 stages in which players must reach the goal while avoiding the rotten bananas. The twist to the gameplay will assuredly be an interesting one.

Dark Banana Mode will not be immediately playable in game, as it is unlockable. However, the mode is entirely free and it can be unlocked via normal gameplay. The specifics on how to unlock it will likely come in time. With so many crossovers, modes, and more, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania truly feels like it is receiving the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate treatment, and that is very exciting.

The continual onslaught of reveals and information leading up to the launch of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania has helped the game go from being completely unknown just a few months ago before E3 2021 to being considered a must-have game by many for this upcoming season. Even Persona 5's Morgana was just added to Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, a surprising addition that somehow feels right at home. The game's release is just over a month away, but there is a good chance that SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio still have a surprise or two up their sleeves.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania launches for PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 5th, 2021.
