One of the most acclaimed and lauded titles in Nintendo's SNES Library is Super Metroid. It was the game that laid the groundwork for future Metroid titles and helped to birth the "Search-action" or "Metroidvania" style of games that many know today. The game is still being played today, thanks to its brilliant world design, power-ups, and adventurous nature. The game is also one of the best games to speedrun, due to the amount of sequence breaking and glitches that can be pulled off in this game specifically. However, an avid Metroid fan found a hidden secret that could only be found in the game through the use of glitches in a segment devoid of Sequence Breaks.

In Super Metroid, the opening has Samus touching down on the surface of Planet Zebes after escaping the Ceres Space Station. From here, the game leads the player through the intended path to acquire the first upgrade of the game, the iconic Morph Ball. After collecting it, the player will notice an eye-like camera device on the wall, which lights up when approached. These give the idea of the player is being watched by the Space Pirates.

There's only one more of these camera devices seen in Super Metroid, which is found in a room that requires the Morph Ball. From there, the player is then forced to collect other upgrades before they can proceed further, with a hidden one being locked behind the bombs. This eventually results in the Space Pirates attacking Samus, and these camera devices disappearing. While there was only two shown in-game, one fan was able to find a hidden third device thanks to the use of glitches.

The fan who found it, GoldenChorizoCode, explains that these first two cameras can only be found on this linear path, where there is no possibility to use any tricks to pull off a sequence break. Through the use of cheats, hacks, or a well-known glitch in Super Metroid, a third camera can be found. By executing a unique set of actions in an early room, the game will be tricked into believing that the Morph Ball is the only upgrade collected. From there, a player can enter a room that would be unaccessible without the use of bombs, leading them to a Chozo Statue that usually held an extra missile tank, where its eye now is the security camera.

Through the use of another graphical glitch, GoldenChorizoCode showed that behind the statue was the camera, although a different color compared to the other two. Many commented that this "Easter Egg" could have been a holdover from early development of Super Metroid, considering that it's normally impossible to access this area without the use of glitches or cheats. Some theorized it was possible that this area was able to be discovered early before needing the bombs, or would be the first area to acquire the missile upgrades.

Super Metroid is available on Super Nintendo.
