Super Meat Boy has likely taken a massive chunk of your life away if you purchased the thumb-breaking platformer on XBLA. If you've fallen in love with the tenacious little slab of bovine, as we did in our review, then you've probably been following the character reveals for the soon to be available PC version of the game. PC exclusive characters from indie games such as Minecraft and VVVVVV have been confirmed to make a playable appearance in Super Meat Boy, but Team Meat has also invited a creature from a series that's a little more mainstream than the previously mentioned games.

Half-Life's Headcrab will be a playable character, but only for those who purchase the game through Steam. If you go the other route and purchase the game for your PC or Mac through other means then you'll miss out on the Headcrab, but you'll gain Goo Ball of World of Goo fame. Both of these characters are only available on the PC and Mac and will replace Gish from the XBLA version.

Team Meat seems pretty excited about the Steam exclusive Headcrab, and even wrote that they "LOVE Steam...like...a lot. MS is the hot chick you hook up with, Steam is the girl you spend your life with." Truer words have never been spoken, and in order to show Steam just how loved it is by Team Meat, Super Meat Boy will be discounted from $15 to $10 for everybody who pre-orders the title on Valve's digital distribution service.

While all that news is super exciting, Team Meat also took the opportunity to announce the official release date for Super Meat Boy on the PC. The game will be available on November 30th, but you won't be able to pre-order the meat-filled platformer until November 23rd. There are also plans to bring Super Meat Boy to the Mac via Steam, but it will sadly land at a later date than the PC version.

The addition of these characters is pretty exciting, but it only leaves us to wonder who the mystery characters still are. Oh, and just so you know, the "first person to guess 'Splosion Man gets punched in the face." Well, it's a safe bet to say that Twisted Pixel won't be involved in any way with Team Meat or Super Meat Boy.

What do you think of the Headcrab and Goo Ball exclusives? Are you going to capitalize on the Steam sale?

Super Meat Boy comes to PC November 30, 2010, and to Mac at a later date.
