A photograph of a McDonald's flier appears to confirm plans for an upcoming Happy Meal toy promotion with the Super Mario Bros. movie. McDonald's is well known to do collaborations with video games and films that fit with the fast-food chain's Happy Meal demographics. The upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie fits into that role well, both as a film and due to its video game origins. It's a great opportunity for Happy Meal toy collectors and Mario fans to celebrate the occasion. The Super Mario Bros. movie is currently planned to release in theaters on April 7, 2023. Despite being five months away from release, however, Universal Pictures is already putting out trailers for the film. Excitement is growing in turn, with the Super Mario Bros. movie one of the most anticipated films of 2023. That makes it ripe for collaborations, on top of Nintendo being a high-value partner, in general.RELATED: Super Mario Bros Movie: All New Characters In The TrailerA photograph of a flier for a Japanese McDonald's has now been shared online showing the fast-food chain is partnering with the Super Mario Bros. movie. The flier shows a schedule with three phases. The first phase offers four Super Mario Bros. movie toys and the second offers another four, for eight total Happy Meal toys. The first group will be available between December 23 and December 29. The second will be available between December 30 and January 5.

The first group of toys includes Mario jumping out of a green pipe, Princess Peach, Toad in a purple kart, and Donkey Kong with a barrel on his shoulder. The second group of toys features Mario in his red kart, Luigi holding what looks like a fireball, Bowser breathing flame, and an unnamed blue Luma. Super Mario Bros. fans have their work cut out for themselves if they want to collect all eight toys.

It should be made clear that this is a Japanese McDonald's flier, which means it isn't necessarily representative of any partnerships outside of Japan. These toys may not be made available elsewhere, and if they are then they may be released on a different schedule. Still, customers should not be surprised if McDonald's does announce a Super Mario Bros. movie partnership before long.

All in all, the McDonald's Happy Meal toys aren't anything particularly complex or special. They don't even look like they're specific to the Super Mario Bros. film, and it isn't even clear if Lumas will be featured in the movie. Still, for Mario fans, it's a fun event and an opportunity to add some McDonald's merchandise to a collection or to put a smile on a young Super Mario Bros. player's face.
