The original Super Mario Bros. released all the way back in 1985, which means the franchise will be celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. According to multiple reports, Nintendo wants to mark the occasion in a big way and is planning on remastering several Super Mario Bros. games for the Switch. One of the games being brought to the new console might be Super Mario 3D World, according to a recent leak.

Twitter user Wario64 did some digging and uncovered an inactive listing at Best Buy for Super Mario 3D World. The details show that it will release for the Switch with a price tag of $59.99, and although it isn't listed as such, it is likely the game will be getting a Deluxe release, just as Super Mario Bros. U did -- though this is not confirmed.

Even the leaker asks that people take this information with a grain of salt, which is always a good practice when it comes to leaks and rumors. However, with the recent Mario Bros. rumors swirling, there's a good chance this leak could turn out to correct. Audiences could find out the validity of this information soon, too, if the recent June Nintendo Direct leak is accurate.

According to information from 4chan, which has pumped out some legitimate leaks in the past, the upcoming Direct is going to be making some huge announcements. It is claiming ports of Pikmin to the Switch, a new F-Zero, and Donkey Kong Country games for Switch Online will be among the many things shown during the event.

The Direct is also rumored to be brimming with Super Mario Bros. news. The leak states that a new Paper Mario game will be announced, along with Super Mario 3D World Deluxe and a Super Mario HD bundle that will package together remasters of past 3D titles from the series, including Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel. What hurts the leaks case a smidge is that it also claims a Super Mario RPG remake is in development and one of the most requested characters in Super Smash Bros. history, Geno, will finally be joining the roster. For longtime fans of both the game and the character, this would an incredible move by Nintendo, but it all seems a little too good to be true.

Whether it comes to pass or not, it's hard to deny Super Mario RPG deserves a place in the 35th-anniversary releases after being neglected for far too long.
