Super Mario 3D World has been announced for Nintendo Switch. Super Mario 3D World was previously a Wii U title back in 2013, and will be getting an updated Nintendo Switch port soon. The Super Mario 3D World Nintendo port was confirmed in a surprise Nintendo Direct today that announced new Mario products and Super Mario titles coming to Switch.

Super Mario 3D World on Wii U has all the fun gameplay of a Mario adventure, with a local multiplayer that allowed up to four players to explore the 3D worlds at one time. Players could control Mario, the most iconic video game character, or could go with Luigi, Peach, Toad or Rosalina, each with their own abilities.

While the Wii U version had local multiplayer, with Nintendo Online for the Switch, players can play multiplayer with people all over the world. Nintendo has quickly confirmed that Super Mario 3D World on Switch will have online multiplayer with up to four players. Players will need their own Nintendo Switch, a copy of the game, and the Nintendo Online subscription to play online multiplayer. Players will also need their own form of online communication, as there is no in-game chat available.

Not only will Super Mario 3D World have online multiplayer for the first time, it will also whole additional game section titled Bowser's Fury. Based on the announcement trailer, Bowser's Fury will launch players into a stormy world where new challenges await. There is still a good amount of time before the release, so more information may come out about Bowser's Fury or any other features coming to Super Mario 3D World such as new characters or new power-ups. Regardless if there are any other features, the online multiplayer is enough to get Mario fans extremely excited.

Players will have to wait a few months to get into the four-player action because Super Mario 3D World on Switch comes out February 12th, 2021. For players itching to play more Mario with online multiplayer, the new Super Mario Bros. 35 is a battle royale game on Nintendo Switch that places players in the classic 1983 game to survive the longest. Super Mario Bros. 35 comes out on October 1st only in the Nintendo Digital Shop and also requires the Nintendo Online subscription to play. Overall, the Nintendo Direct presentation gives Mario fans a lot to look forward to in the next year.
