A Final Fantasy 7 Remake fan has made an amazing buster sword controller that translates swings into actual ability inputs. This incredible controller works in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Final Fantasy 14, and even Elden Ring.

Super Louis 64 is an intrepid programmer, gamer, and master of crafting crazy, creative controllers. Also known as the Controller Bender, Super Louis 64 has beaten Elden Ring with bananas, Dark Souls 3 with a Guitar Hero controller, and is working on custom controllers for every playable job in Final Fantasy 14.

Now, Super Louis 64 has completed his largest project yet: the buster sword controller. Though the controller is essentially just “a really bad Wiimote,” the undertaking was truly massive in both size and scale. The final product of the buster sword controller was constructed using a custom-made 3D-printed hilt with sanding and wood filling, ending with a gorgeous model. The controller itself is just over five feet long and weighs just shy of eight pounds, so swinging the buster sword around in Final Fantasy 7 Remake was quite a workout for Super Louis 64.

The sword uses motion-detecting hardware to sense motions and translate them into specific inputs to utilize different attacks and abilities. While playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake, swinging the sword activates normal attacks, with heavier swings triggering multiple attacks. Stabbing the sword forward causes Cloud to use his Focused Thrust special, while holding the blade in the Guard stance makes Cloud block as well.

Because the buster sword works much like a regular controller, Super Louis 64 confirmed it can be used in just about any PC or PS5 game. He showed footage of himself using the buster sword to play the Dark Knight job in Final Fantasy 14 and to control a greatsword-wielding build in Elden Ring. However, because of its unwieldy weight, he didn’t think he could beat many bosses in the challenging Game of the Year winner with this particular controller.

Though all of Super Louis 64’s custom controllers garner tons of positive attention from players, the buster sword build might be one of his most popular ones yet. Fans of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Final Fantasy 14, and Elden Ring alike flocked to his video, with his post on Twitter receiving over 5000 retweets and nearly 20,000 likes in a short time. With this amazing controller in hand, Super Louis 64 will be fully ready to tackle Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion now that it is out, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth once it releases.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available on PC, PS4, and PS5.
