June has arrived, bringing with it the start of summer and the midpoint of the year. It also marks the beginning of the video game trade show season, which will be proceeding for the second time since E3's founding without said iconic event running a couple of weeks in. The show’s news will be delivered in roughly the same time period, but it will mostly be under the banner of Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest. An effort is being made to avoid repeating the mistakes of the summer 2020 proceedings, and the majority of the major conferences are planned to air within an action-packed three weeks.

Most of the usual suspects have already confirmed their shows for the month. Sony will be hosting a State of Play earlier than anticipated, but it will likely have some overlap with the publisher-neutral Summer Game Fest kickoff. Microsoft and Bethesda will have another combined showcase, and other familiar names like the PC Gaming Show will surround it. EA will not be in attendance and Nintendo's plans are currently unknown, though fans expect it to announce a Direct for its usual mid-June slot. More shows will likely be announced in the first two weeks of June as well.
