Slated to take place on June 10, Summer Game Fest's kickoff show promises to be filled with plenty of enticing reasons to tune in, with the show boasting new looks at huge games and a handful of mysterious world premieres. Alongside its various reveals, the showcase will feature a fun guest appearance, with Geoff Keighley confirming Weezer will be performing during the event.

Yesterday, a second special guest was announced, with Keighley announcing via Twitter that Jeff Goldblum is also slated to appear on the kick-off show. Although the iconic movie star's role in the event wasn't detailed, it's wise to imagine he'll show up and talk all things video games with Keighley.

Goldblum is likely best known for his work on seminal movies such as Jurassic Park, Independence Day, The Fly, and more, having worked all over the film industry on a range of projects. The actor has dipped his toe into the realm of video games before, playing Nero Blackstone in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's Shadows of Evil map, where he starred alongside Ron Perlman, Heather Graham, and Neal McDonough. More recently, it was announced that Goldblum would be joining the second season of Award-winning Dungeons and Dragons podcast Dark Dice, where he'll be an eleven sorcerer named Balmur. His first episode officially debuted early last month to a great reception.

As for the rest of the Summer Game Fest's kickoff event, it looks to be loaded with exciting surprises and brand new looks at highly-anticipated upcoming games. According to Keighley, the show will have over a dozen currently unannounced titles to share as well as plenty of other fun segments to celebrate the beginning of the long-running video game festival. Although only a few of the Summer Game Fest's subsequent shows have currently been announced, one will take place the day after the kickoff event, with Koch Media taking to the stage to talk more about its upcoming projects.

The festival will run alongside E3 this year, with the latter slated to fall between June 12 and June 15. It'll come loaded with showcases from some of gaming's biggest publishers, with Microsoft and Bethesda holding a press conference on June 13, Take-Two highlighting their future plans on June 14, and Nintendo holding a Direct on June 15. A myriad of other major names will also present during the three-day-long digital broadcast, including Capcom, Square Enix, Bandai Namco, Warner Brothers, Gearbox, and Devolver Digital.

Summer Game Fest's kickoff show is slated to take place on June 10 at 11:00 AM PT.
