Rocksteady Studios has finally debuted details for its follow-up to the Batman: Arkham series. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was revealed at the DC Fandome this evening with a cinematic trailer that showed off the game's four main characters, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark, taking down legions of what appears to be humans being mind-controlled by Brainiac. It turns out that this trailer was hinting at what of the game's main features: four-player co-op multiplayer.

Cooperative multiplayer experiences seemed to be a theme with DC Comics' video games showing at the Fandome today. Earlier in the day, WB Games Montreal debuted its first look at Gotham Knights with its playable roster including Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Red Hood. It was then confirmed that Gotham Knights will feature a co-op multiplayer experience for up to four players.

While Gotham Knights will have players working together for the greater good of Gotham, Rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will let players indulge their self-interest to survive together. Players will each be able to take on the role of one of the four main characters as they work together to take on the seemingly impossible task of kill the Justice League.

Following the reveal of the cinematic trailer, panel host Will Arnett was joined by Sefton Hill, the creative director of Rocksteady Studios, where he mentioned that Rocksteady wants players to play its game however they would like. According to Hill, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League features a dynamic co-op experience where players will be able to switch between single-player and multiplayer at any time. He went on to say that players who prefer to play solo won't be at a disadvantage as the other members of the Suicide Squad will be controlled by bots, and they will be able to instantly switch between characters in-game.

Today was not only a good day to be a fan of superhero video games, but a great day to be a fan of the Suicide Squad. Earlier in the day, James Gunn revealed the first look at his pseudo-reboot of The Suicide Squad movie with a full list of characters involved. The movie will include not only fan favorites Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, but new characters like Michael Rooker as Savant and Peter Capaldi as The Thinker. It looks like the next few years could be fantastic for fans of DC Comics' team of anti-heroes.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X with a proposed release date in 2022.
