A new action sequence from The Suicide Squad has been released online that spotlights Nathan Fillion’s The Detachable Kid, a.k.a. T.D.K. The minute one hears his name, it becomes obvious that T.D.K’s powers will be something strange and a little bit ridiculous, and the new clip does not disappoint.

The 40-second clip from The Suicide Squad was shared by IGN on its social media channels as part of their month-long IGN Premiere event and is receiving a lot of positive feedback from fans considering its comic undertones. Since the character was announced, fans had been waiting to see what T.D.K. was capable of, considering the name, and they now get a firsthand look at him in action.

The scene begins with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag engaged in battle during their team’s assault on what seems like a remote beach. At this point, T.D.K is called into action and even Quinn is taken aback by his sudden appearance. Without moving from his spot, T.D.K is seen dislodging his arms, not unlike a play doll, and sending them into the battlefield instead of fighting the opponents himself.

The floating arms approach the soldiers and, while being controlled by T.D.K, they begin to slap the enemies on their heads. As the hilarious scene goes on, Quinn is evidently unhappy with the way things are playing out, causing her to say things that need to be censored. “I didn’t pick the team,” quips Flag, quickly disassociating himself from the group of misfits called Task Force X and the madness occurring on the battlefield.

During the early promotions of The Suicide Squad, Gunn had warned fans not to get too attached to any of the film’s characters, as there were bound to be many deaths. After watching the new clip, many fans are joking about how T.D.K. could potentially be one of the first characters to face death due to his useless attempt at attacking a bunch of soldiers with weapons. Considering The Suicide Squad is rated R, it could also be a gory death.

Gunn is known for bringing slapstick comedy into his films. Look at the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, which is filled with silly jokes and comebacks that have fans falling off their seats in laughter. It was expected that The Suicide Squad would bring in a similar level of humor, and so far, the multiple trailers and clips seem to promise a lot more. The latest clip confirms that even intense action sequences will feature comic elements, which is something fans have come to expect of Gunn.

The Suicide Squad will premiere in theatres and on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021.
