Even though Suicide Squad 2 follows after the previous 2016 film, it stands separately. The film creates a brand new story with mostly new characters. It manages to finish the main story but also leaves some unanswered questions. Most of them could very well get their answer in any future movies with the same team, or a similar one.

Overall, Suicide Squad 2 did a great job explaining what needed to be explained but there are still some unanswered questions the audience could think about while they watch the film. With any luck, the series will get yet another sequel that will answer some of these head-scratchers.

8 What Will Happen To Weasel?

Weasel goes on a mission in Suicide Squad

At first, it looked like the mission goes completely wrong and the entire team dies, with the exception of Harley. The first member who perishes is Weasel, who doesn't know how to swim and only gets to the beach when Savant drags him there. However, after the end of the movie, a scene follows in which Weasel wakes up and gets away.

The obvious question is what will happen to Weasel. He could either return to his old ways (at one point, Rick Flag mentions that Weasel killed 27 children) or the Suicide Squad could capture Weasel again. If they don't find his body on the beach, they might realize he's not dead and go after him. Either way, the mystery will remain unsolved at least until another Suicide Squad movie.

7 Will Harley Find Her Ideal Partner?

Harley goes to meet Sergio in Suicide Squad

Harley doesn't have much luck in love in the DCEU. After her relationship with the Joker, she has a brief fling with the handsome but murderous Sergio Luna who temporarily rules Corto Maltese. Harley ends up killing Sergio and is lonely once again.

This seems like the ideal opportunity to bring Poison Ivy into the DCEU in person. In the comics, Harley and Ivy have a much more balanced and loving relationship than Harley ever had with the Joker.

6 Was Rick Flag In Love With Harley?

Rick Flag talks to his team in Suicide Squad

One of the details that the film hints at but never quite develops is that Rick Flag has feelings for Harley. When she gets captured and Flag realizes it, his first step is to leave his mission behind and go save Harley first. What's more, at one point they walk side by side and smile at each other in a way that suggests something could be going on between them.

Even though Flag met his untimely end in the film, the next Suicide Squad could still address the potential romance, for example in the form of a flashback. Plus, it wouldn't be the first time the two had something going on as they dated briefly in the comics before Flag had died.

5 Will King Shark And Ratcatcher 2 Grow Closer?

King Shark tries to eat Ratcatcher 2 in Suicide Squad

Speaking of relationships, one of the most bizarre ones in the film happens between King Shark and Ratcatcher 2. He initially tries to eat her, she forgives him, they become friends and the end of the film sees them hugging, closer than ever before.

It's impossible to tell whether the potential sequel could include a romance between the two. However, it wouldn't be the first time King Shark dated someone else from his team. For example, at one point, he and John Constantine had a brief fling before Constantine broke things off.

4 Will Amanda Waller Continue To Lead The Suicide Squad?

Amanda Waller leads the mission in Suicide Squad

Amanda Waller is the best-known leader of the Suicide Squad but she's not the only one who ever controlled the team. For example, Arrow had Lyla Michaels assume this position after Waller had been killed.

At one point, her subordinate knocks Waller out to stop her from killing the Squad. Waller's employees then help the Squad save Corto Maltese. At the end of the film, Waller is back in her office, in control, but the previous mutiny could very well permanently shift the power order in the organization.

3 Who Will Be In The Next Suicide Squad?

Harley screams in the Suicide Squad

With the film's success and positive ratings, it's possible the audience will sooner or later get another Suicide Squad film. However, what this movie makes unclear is who would be in the new team. The surviving team members forced Waller into releasing them so they're free to go.

But the team wouldn't be itself without its members, especially Harley Quinn. So it's quite possible that Harley and some of her fellow team members will eventually end up back in Task Force X. It wouldn't be the first time Harley returned there, after all.

2 Will The Secret Information Ever Reach Public?

King Shark attacks Starro in Suicide Squad

Speaking of the team leaving Task Force X, they could very well make the secret information about Starro public in the future. The fact that the USA supported the research despite all the deaths it caused would be a huge blow to society.

For now, the information remains hidden but there's no guarantee it will stay that way forever. Especially if Amanda Waller ever tries to hurt her former subordinates.

1 How Many Members Does Task Force X Have?

The Suicide Squad John Cena Peacemaker

The film plays a clever trick on the audience. At first, it presents one team and it looks like the team will be the one leading the story. However, these villains soon die and another team takes over.

Considering Amanda Waller has a lot of captured villains at her disposal, the future movies could very well show more of the Task Force X members. For example, the team also had Killer Frost in it at one point, a villain well known to all the fans of The Flash.
