The release of No More Heroes 3 on the Nintendo Switch has given fans the return of their favorite bloodthirsty otaku hitman, Travis Touchdown. It's been a long time coming for fans of the series, as it is a culmination of Suda 51's work. However, now that No More Heroes 3 has been released, the developer has given some insight into what'd he like to do next, along with where the character of Travis could go.
It's been stated by Suda 51 himself that No More Heroes 3 is the last game in the franchise for the foreseeable future, as while the game is a part of Grasshopper Manufacturer's lineup, the company only owns a small portion of it. As he states in an interview with Nintendo Life, the majority of the IP is owned by Marvelous Entertainment, which is why this game serves as a natural point to end Travis' story. Suda now wishes to create his own IPs that are wholly owned by Grasshopper, with new games and characters. However, he does say that Travis and No More Heroes aren't off-limits, but just that this is the current situation.
Suda then spent some time during the interview with NintendoLife answering burning questions that some fans wanted answers to. The first of which was if it was possible that Travis could be invited to the Super Smash Bros. roster. The character has been a hotly requested character ever since his appearance on the Wii, but Travis was ultimately represented as a Mii Swordfighter costume in the latest entry.
Suda said that Masahiro Sakurai, the creator and developer of the Smash Bros. games, is a good friend of his. Since he understands and loves video games, he'd be able to accurately include Travis as a character if he appeared in the next Smash Bros. game. He even mentioned that Sakurai had beaten all of the bosses of No More Heroes 3, and Suda says Sakurai got a huge laugh out of the final boss.
The other question that he was asked was regarding a possible dream game where he would take full control over one of Nintendo's IPs. Suda immediately said that he would spring for a chance at making a Zelda game, but he says "I know deep down inside me it’s not okay for me to make a Zelda game." The other Nintendo IP that he would like to design his own way would be Nazo no Murasame Jo (or The Mysterious Murasame Castle, which starred the samurai Takamaru. Considering Suda 51's pedigree at making amazing action games, a reboot or sequel for the NES game made by the developer would be pretty amazing.
