Suda51, creator of the phenomenal No More Heroes franchise, has announced that he'll be hosting Travis Monday Nightro 2, the sequel to his August live-stream named for No More Heroes protagonist Travis Touchdown, with IGN and a special guest on October 23rd at 7pm JST. It's likely that at the time of reading, this event has already taken place, and IGN will be providing an English printed description some time after the live-steam has ended.
The special guest in question is Swery, the creator of epic horror games like Deadly Premonition and The Missing. It's expected that the two massively popular developers are planning to reveal a collaboration that fans hope the two may be working on together.
This isn't the first time that a collaboration between the two developers has been alluded to. In an interview with Destructoid last year, Swery reportedly answered a question about whether he would like to collaborate with Suda51, he responded, "Yeah, I would love to if the opportunity presents itself and we have a chance to do it, we’d absolutely love to collaborate." The developers were reportedly unable to follow through with any collaborations due to their respective projects in the works, such as Swery's The Missing, which released after the interview, and Suda51's No More Heroes 3 which is still in development.
Since one of the developers in question, Swery, has been working on the sequel to Deadly Premonition, it is possible that his attention hasn't been available to work with Suda51. However, with developments in the No More Heroes franchise, it's hard to say if either has had enough time available to head in full force with a brand new IP developed together. There is a chance that this instead means that either Swery will have his influence seen in No More Heroes 3, and vice versa for Suda51 in Deadly Premonition 2, or much more likely, the combined project won't be set to launch until well into the future.
With all of that said, any collaboration between the two is really only speculation at this point. When the stream goes live, and is eventually translated for fans in the west, there will be more information to go on, hopefully involving a new game created by the two developers. Until then, fans can tune into IGN Japan to get a first hand account of the goings on between the two powerhouses of game design.
