A couple of months ago, Sucker Punch put out a job listing for a senior writer to work on its next open-world project, which many assumed to be a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. As it turns out, that's apparently not the only game the studio has in the pipeline since evidence has been discovered of a new multiplayer game as well.

Another Sucker Punch job listing was recently spotted by IGN and it's specifically for a multiplayer/network programmer, which basically confirms that the game in question is a multiplayer game with online functionality. Or, at the very least, it has an online multiplayer option. Whoever gets the role will join the team at its Bellevue, Washington studio.

The job details don't give away any sort of specifics, like if it will be PvP or PvE. It may not necessarily be a separate game. It's entirely possible that the aforementioned open-world project will contain a multiplayer mode of some kind, given how little is really known about it. After all, while Ghost of Tsushima was strictly a single-player title, Sucker Punch did add a multiplayer component called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends as a free post-launch update.

Assuming it is a separate game, the question then is whether it'll be related to Ghost of Tsushima at all or feature an entirely new IP. Given the samurai game's phenomenal success, with it recently surpassing 6.5 million copies sold, it wouldn't be surprising for Sucker Punch to further capitalize on that success with a spin-off. Plus, Sucker Punch's only other IPs are Sly Cooper and Infamous, both of which the studio has moved on from, so it's unlikely the multiplayer game will have anything to do with either of them.

Even if none of Sucker Punch's new projects have anything to do with Ghost of Tsushima, it's very unlikely that it won't continue the IP in some form. The game is so popular that it led to the directors being made honorary ambassadors of the actual Tsushima Island, since the game has helped promote and raise awareness of the island and its history.

On top of that, as part of Sony's efforts to expand its gaming franchises into other media, Ghost of Tsushima is getting turned into a movie, which makes sense considering the game itself was heavily inspired by classic samurai movies. No one has been cast as main character Jin yet, but Chad Stalheski, the director of the first three John Wick movies will be directing the project.

Ghost of Tsushima is available for PlayStation 4.
