Much like its predecessor, Subnautica: Below Zero gives players a ton of freedom to explore Planet 4546B and complete the game's quests. This level of freedom is one of the game's key selling points, though it can make things tricky when trying to locate specific locations, especially due to the lack of map function and impressive size of the game world.

One of the toughest locations to reach in Subnautica: Below Zero is the inside of Marguerit's Greenhouse, not only because the area itself is tricky to find but also because the Communications Tower needs to be disabled before players can enter it. Completing the set of objectives can be tough, but it's possible when knowing where to look.

Where To Find The Communications Tower

The Communications Tower is owned by Alterra Corporation and can be found at the top of Delta Island, at coordinates -224 49 -750.

Delta Island is located southwest of the drop pod, across a stretch of water that is packed with Cryptosuchus'. Due to appearing so early in the game and having such a ferocious roar, Cryptosuchus' may initially seem very intimidating. However, a quick read of their PDA entry will teach the player that they're more bark than bite — a single hit will send them into retreat.

When reaching the island, players will soon see the new temperature meter coming into effect. The arctic biome is freezing cold, so players need to find ways to keep warm. Thankfully, there are a few ways to accomplish this, such as:

  • Constructing a Cold Suit
  • Bringing warm consumables such as Fevered Peppers and Spicy Fruit Salad
  • Standing next to natural heat sources on the island, such as Thermal Lilies and Hot Springs.

How To Disable The Tower

To disable the Communications Tower, players first need to travel to Marguerit's Base. The base's location is hinted at the player when they receive the "Pilot - Last Known Location" waypoint and can be found in a cave near to the waypoint at coordinates 998 30 -873. Marguerit is inside the base, and she will ask the player to disable the Communications Tower as she is tired of them spying on her.

Marguerit will then point the player towards her Test Override Module Fragment. Scan the fragment, then construct the Test Override Module, as this is the device needed to disable the tower. Before leaving, be sure to have a good look around the base, as there are other helpful items to scan, such as a Snowfox Fragment, Spy Pengling Fragment, and a Prawn Suit.

The Test Override Module is fairly tricky to build, as it requires a Parallel Processing Unit. Fragments for the unit are difficult to track down but can be found with a bit of help.

Once the Test Override Module has been built, head to the Communications Tower, and insert the module into the maintenance port at its upper level, then shut it down at the terminal. Once this is done, the player will get a call from Marguerit telling them to head to her Greenhouse, and the achievement Pirate Radio will be unlocked.

Where To Find The Greenhouse

Iceberg with Marguerit's Greenhouse

Now that the Communications Tower has been disabled, the door to the Greenhouse will be open. The greenhouse is located at coordinates 998 30 -873, in the southeast region of the East Arctic biome, near the top of a large iceberg.

Unfortunately, the trip to the Greenhouse can be one of the most dangerous in the game, aside from deep areas like the Crystal and Fabricator Caves. As the name suggests, the East Arctic biome is located in the far eastern portion of the map, bordering the world's edge. Players need to be careful not to enter the world's edge, as the area is essentially an extreme invisible wall that keeps players in the playing area by spawning three Void Chelicerates to chase them away or kill them if they don't get the hint.

Chelicerates are the key issue when traveling to the East Arctic, as there's a very good chance that at least one will attack the player on their way there. The best way to deal with the predators is to travel in a Seatruck and craft the Seatruck Afterburner and Seatruck Perimeter Defense upgrades.

Like the aforementioned Delta Island, players need to prepare themselves for freezing weather conditions once surfacing.
