When it comes to exorcising curses and mastering cursed energy, strength is essential for a sorcerer to quickly win a battle with little to no injuries. Jujutsu Kaisen takes fans into a daunting world filled with threats that are often invisible to the naked eye. The students at Tokyo and Kyoto Jujutsu High have worked their hardest and finally had their time to shine in the first season.

Jujutsu Kaisen's anime has drawn tons of new fans to the series, but manga veterans can see all the small differences between the two.

After the Sister School Exchange Event, fans got to gauge what kind of talents both schools had. Although everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, it's only natural that some students will stand out more than others.

Updated on October 24, 2023, by Christine Mendoza: The long-awaited second season of Jujutsu Kaisen has finally arrived and fans are eager to see what kind of intense, high-octane fights are in store for the new, upcoming episodes. As the fight against Sukuna and Geto continues, Jujutsu High students are forced to the front lines, finally taking the spotlight from their teachers, getting their chance to show off their true strength and how much they've improved since the last time they set foot in battle. To keep things up to date, a few entries have been added while others have been switched and reranked according to the newest season of Jujutsu Kaisen.

13 Kasumi Miwa

Jujutsu Kaisen Kasumi Miwa On Phone

Kyoto's Kasumi Miwa may be a Grade 3 sorcerer with a relatively versatile jujutsu technique but as far as the first season goes, she has a long way ahead of her before being taken more seriously as a threat. Miwa's "Simple Domain" technique doesn't offer much range and only works well in a defensive position.

Miwa definitely has a lot to learn but it seems as if she's a bit harsher on herself than necessary! Fans may have laughed at her "Useless Miwa" joke but she's definitely well-loved nonetheless. Kasumi Miwa has lots of room to grow and tons of fans behind her cheering her on.

12 Momo Nishimiya

Jujutsu Kaisen Momo Nishimiya On Broom Flying

Where Momo's strength lies is in combat where she keeps her distance. Momo's jujutsu techniques mainly revolve around the use of her broom which she controls freely with her "Tool Manipulation" technique; as well as using the "Wind Scythe" move to generate powerful winds to subdue her opponents.

Momo's overall versatility isn't particularly high and makes her a better fit for working reconnaissance on a team rather than standing strong in an individual fight. Momo excels in speed rather than strength; and while not a powerful sorcerer, she still stands as an integral part of the Kyoto team.

11 Mai Zenin

Jujutsu Kaisen Mai Zenin Holding Gun

Although Mai is indeed part of the powerful Zenin clan, she, unfortunately, didn't inherit any special abilities or techniques the clan is well known for. Mai's weapon of choice is a gun she can imbue with cursed energy and fire powerfully reinforced bullets. Her cursed ammunition paired with her close to perfect precision is a deadly combination.

Killing demons and banishing spirits has always been a popular topic for anime. Jujustu Kaisen is among these popular animes with exorcism themes.

However, even with her skillful ability of "Construction" which allows Mai to manifest a bullet out of pure cursed energy, Mai is still lacking. She doesn't possess a natural talent for being a sorcerer and also is at a disadvantage with a lower level of cursed energy than the average sorcerer.

10 Panda

Panda in Jujutsu Kaisen

Although Panda may essentially be a mutated corpse, there's no question that he's both a great sorcerer and a trustworthy part of the Tokyo High team! Panda is a Grade 2 sorcerer and has the amazing ability to exorcise curses with his raw physical strength. While many of Panda's classmates rely on weapons to imbue with their cursed energy, Panda has no need.

On top of his raw strength, Panda also has the unique ability to "switch" between the three cores that lie within his body; his first being his natural Panda self, another being an even more powerful Gorilla, and the last core is still to be revealed in the anime.

9 Toge Inumaki

Right from Toge's first appearance, fans knew his natural talent for being a sorcerer was going to be impressive. Toge's "Cursed Speech" technique allows him to subdue any enemies just from a mere verbal command. Not only are these attacks simple and lightning-fast to use, but Toge also learned to limit his vocabulary as an extra precaution for the sake of all those around him.

Although Toge's ability of "Cursed Speech" is impressive, the repercussions of overusing his power are dire. Once Toge's past his limit, even his trusty cough syrup can't undo the damage.

8 Noritoshi Kamo

Jujutsu Kaisen Noritoshi Kamo

After his brief fight with Megumi, it was clear from the beginning that Noritoshi had undeniable talent. After inheriting the Kamo family technique, Noritoshi quickly rose to the status of a Semi-Grade 1 sorcerer.

Although Noritoshi has his handy bow and arrow, it is his "Blood Manipulation" technique that is his biggest asset, allowing him to channel his high levels of cursed energy to freely control his blood in order to attack and even trap his enemies. However, as Noritoshi needs great amounts of blood in order to reach his full potential, Noritoshi has the disadvantage of always needing plenty of time in order to prep before a big battle.

7 Nobara Kugisaki

Nobara Kugisaki in Jujutsu Kaisen

Using a simple hammer, Nobara has undoubtedly nailed (pun intended) what it takes to be an extraordinary sorcerer! Nobara uses her "Straw Doll" technique as a means to attack opponents no matter how much distance they create between them.

Nobara knows how to implement her talents when needed; such as shooting cursed nails, using her straw doll to exorcise from a distance, and even her "Hairpin" technique that involves scattering her nails in order to destroy or control items around her.

6 Maki Zenin

Maki Zenin from Jujutsu Kaisen anime

Maki may be a Grade 4 sorcerer on paper, but in reality, she's much more capable. Although Maki is of the Zenin clan, she didn't inherit any special abilities; on top of this, she also possesses almost zero cursed energy and even needs the aid of special glasses in order to see curses out in the world.

In lieu of having little to no cursed energy, Maki is blessed with extraordinary strength and speed thanks to the Heavenly Restriction. Maki's hard work ethic brought her close to the top, and relying on weapons with cursed energy imbued in them, allowed her impressive physical stats to shine bright. It's only a matter of time until she rises to the top like another certain Zenin with zero cursed energy!

5 Megumi Fushiguro

Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen

Megumi may use weapons or cursed tools in battle every now and then, but his true power lies in his inherited ability. The "Ten Shadows" technique Megumi possesses originally comes from the Zenin family. This ability allows Megumi to manifest ten different shikigami, which are powerful animal-like creatures that are summoned from his unique shadow hand puppet gestures.

Although Megumi is currently finding his footing and perhaps hasn't unlocked his true power, there's no question that he's got immense potential to continue climbing as even Sukuna himself acknowledged Megumi's sheer talent!

4 Mechamaru (Kokichi Muta)

Jujutsu Kaisen Mechamaru Kokichi Muta

For all of season one, Mechamaru had only appeared as a puppet while his true form takes control from a remote location. The long-awaited season two has finally revealed Mechamaru's true form: a sickly human boy named Kokichi Muta.

Kokichi is one of the few sorcerers that were given the curse of the Heavenly Restriction. While others subjected to the Heavenly Restriction like Toji and Maki were given physical prowess in exchange for their cursed energy, Kokichi's case was reversed; Heavenly Restriction blessing him with strong cursed energy while giving him a human body too fragile to fight.

It is in season two that Kokichi's sickness is cured, and he is finally able to show off the true potential of his immense cursed energy in his explosive battle against the powerful Mahito.

3 Aoi Todo

Aoi Todo in Jujutsu Kaisen

One look at the towering Todo and it's clear that he doesn't need the aid of weapons in order to exorcise curses. Todo has incredible raw strength; which when accompanied by his exceptional speed and intellect arguably makes him the strongest Kyoto High student.

Todo's "Boogie Woogie" technique has immense versatility; being useful when protecting a comrade, fleeing from an enemy, and in both close and far-range combat. Todo's sheer physical strength paired with his ability to switch any two targets (including himself) earns him a comfy spot at the top of his class.

2 Yuji Itadori

Jujutsu Kaisen Yuji Itadori

It's no surprise that Sukuna's vessel himself would have a spot nearing the top when ranking strength. Even in his life before becoming a sorcerer, he exhibited incredible levels of physical power.

Yuji has been a sorcerer for the least amount of time among his classmates and has easily risen to the top due to his innate ability to learn quickly. Yuji was forced into this life and because of this pressure, has bloomed and learned true mastery of his cursed energy over such a short period of time.

Yuji, despite his goofy nature, is a capable sorcerer and will undoubtedly continue to grow at astonishing speeds in future seasons.

1 Yuta Okkotsu

yuta okkotsu

After his introduction in the Jujutsu Kaisen 0, fans are excited to see Yuta return to the series and prove to everyone how skilled the former Special Grade Cursed Human has become after all his intense training in Africa.

Yuta Okkotsu was introduced as the protagonist of the JJK0 arc/film and is currently a Special Grade sorcerer; the same level as Gojo-sensei himself! Despite only being a second-year, Yuta is one of the strongest sorcerers at Tokyo Jujutsu High and was even able to face off against the powerful Geto Suguru with only the help of Special Grade Curse, and former childhood sweetheart, Rika Orimoto.

Bonus: Junpei Yoshino

Jujutsu-Kaisen-Junpei-Jellyfish

Despite only appearing for a very short arc, the fandom doesn't dare forget poor Junpei Yoshino. Had Junpei somehow survived his encounter with Mahito back in season one, he would have made for a fantastic sorcerer! With Gojo as his teacher and best bud Yuji by his side, there's no doubt Junpei would have had a bright future as a courageous sorcerer that fans would have loved to see heal through his past trauma and grow into a stronger person.
