However, gods in anime can also be cruel and blood-thirsty and like to rule over lesser beings with an iron fist.

Naturally, these anime gods soon became some of the most iconic immortal anime characters who are beloved all over the globe. These mighty gods are sometimes inspired by ancient tales, myths, and even Hellenism, so anime fans can even watch new stories about their favorite Greek gods. However, most of the anime gods are new and imaginative characters, and their stories often provide new perspectives on deities and religion itself.

Madoka Kaname is one of the cutest and most powerful anime gods who was born a human. She had to go through some truly horrible things as a magical girl while fighting with and against some of the darkest magical girls of all time.

After all the battles and the horrible things, Madoka had to endure she eventually turned into a mighty anime god who guided all magical girls as an omnipresent force. She's also one of the few anime gods who wasn't a god by birth but became one thanks to her heroic actions and pure heart. Puella Magi Madoka Magica story follows a group of middle school girls who become magical girls and find themselves in a deadly war against evil and powerful witches.

A Shinigami Who Was Bored Of His Life In Hell

Ryuk is Death Note's iconic Shinigami. Shinigami are Death Gods not just in this thrilling dark anime but in Japanese culture too. Ryuk was one of the many Shinigami who one day got bored and decided to let his death note fall to Earth and into human hands, so he could have some fun.

Even though he couldn't have anticipated what the consequences of his action would be, he was still responsible for all the horrible murders that Light committed. While Ryuk rarely showed his powers he was still one of the strongest and darkly hilarious gods in anime who appeared in all of the best Death Note episodes.

Kaguya Otsutsuki, aka the Rabbit Goddess, was Naruto's mighty god who was also the strongest and most terrifying enemy Naruto and his friends ever had to face. She was one of the members of a powerful celestial clan, and she also ate the fruit of the God Tree and became so powerful that she could defeat anyone and even destroy the planet if she wanted to.

Kaguya was originally a kind person, however, after she was betrayed she grew more resentful. After she ate the fruit of the God Tree she became more and more power-hungry and cruel and eventually turned into one of the most terrifying anime gods. Naruto's story follows the adventures of a young ninja named Naruto, who wants to become a respected Hokage in his village.

The story follows the mischievous adventures of the SOS Brigade as they're trying to find supernatural beings so Haruhi won't get bored.

He easily managed to surpass all other gods during the war of gods, and while he's immensely powerful he still likes to have fun and especially loves spending time playing chess. While not all of Tet's powers are shown in the anime, it is clear that he's able to teleport, interdimensional travel, and perform reality-warping.

No Game No Life is one of the best isekai anime of all time about two young siblings called Shiro and Sora who suddenly get transferred into a magical world after defeating Tet. In this new land, the siblings will have to use their smarts and all of their gaming skills since all disputes are settled with games thanks to the mischievous god who rules over everything.

3 Deus Ex Machina

God Of Time And Space

Most people would argue that a god that can't stop its own death isn't as powerful as most people would assume, but that would be a rather one-sided way to look at the power of Deus Ex Machina in Future Diary. The God of Space and Time created life and the world itself, which is no mean feat.

Forcing people to play a twisted game for the sole purpose of selecting a successor is about as frivolous an act that God would carry out. His presence is felt in each and every episode of Future Diary, showing that a personal connection is not required for a character to become popular. Sometimes, omnipotent power and looming fear are enough.

Beerus is one of the ruthless and evil gods in anime who is surprisingly lazy and loves to spend much of his time either sleeping or grooming. He's the wicked yet playful god of the 7th Universe who loves showing off his powers and doesn't show much concern toward others.

He's so powerful that he can easily destroy not only planets but even entire solar systems. He enjoys using his powers and cruelly uses them to wipe out entire planets and all their residents without remorse. Dragon Ball is one of the most iconic action anime shows, and it follows the adventures of Goku as he embarks on an adventure to become the greatest fighter of all time.

The first look at the Omni-King was an unintentionally hilarious moment, with most people finding it hard to believe that this child-like deity could possibly be the strongest being in the entire galaxy. It wasn't until a simple swish of his hand wiped out an entire universe that people realized just how ridiculously powerful the Omni-King really was.

It's only a given that Goku was goofy enough to ignore the potential ramifications of informally talking to such a powerful being. If Dragon Ball gets a new series, then fans won't be able to wait for more stories with this powerful being in an important role.
