Every anime has its own unique power, which acts as the main point of difference and separates it from other anime. It is clear that having powerful abilities makes a series more interesting, but currently, there are so many anime that follows the same route that it has become repetitive and boring.

In order to compensate for almost every character having outrageously powerful abilities, the mangaka sometimes put in a character who does not have any special powers. They mainly fight using their skills and physical abilities, which is a welcome change from having characters with various powers.

The powers make the fights more interesting, but with the current status of the anime industry, there are way too many anime that are filled with characters who have power beyond imagination. So, whenever anime watchers find a character who has no power, and yet they are able to compete with the strongest characters, it always makes them more impressive. With that in mind, here are some of the strongest anime characters without any kind of power.

14 L Lawliet

< L Lawliet is one of the most famous anime characters in the world. He is among the main characters of Death Note, where he goes head-to-head with Yagami Light. L is an ordinary-looking human being with no great physical strength. His real strength is his intelligence. With his high level of intellect, L was able to solve some of the greatest mysteries and there is doubt that his smartness is an extremely potent weapon in his arsenal.

13 Mugen

Mugen is one of the main protagonists of Samurai Champloo. Unlike most swordsmen, Mugen does not use normal methods of fighting instead he combines swordsmanship with his other fighting moves to make a style that is unorthodox and difficult to guard against.

In the anime, Mugen showed that he was just as talented as someone like Jin. Mugen's distinct fighting style makes him a force to be reckoned with, and it would be a mistake to judge him by his appearance.

12 Arthur Pendragon

Arthur Pendragon is the ruler of Camelot and an important character in the Seven Deadly Sins series. He has not shown any kind of special powers in the battles so far, but it is believed that Arthur has a great deal of latent power inside him, however, for the time being, Arthur is unable to utilize this power. Thus, he remains without any kind of magic or special power.

11 Jonathan Joestar

Jonathan Joestar is the main character of Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood. Despite being born into a rich family, Jonathan was extremely courteous. He did not boast about his wealth nor did he look down on the people who were less privileged than him.

Jonathan's qualities attracted people to help him whenever he was in need. Jonathan did not possess any special power and he had to be trained by Will Anthonio Zeppeli to use Hamon. After gaining the ability to use Hamon, Jonathan used it to defeat Dio and his minions and avenge his father's death.

10 Leorio Paradinight

Leorio is one of the main characters from Hunter x Hunter. He met Gon, Killua, and Kurapika during the Hunter Exams and he was able to pass. Leorio has enhanced strength and reflexes. His sensory skills are better than most and he is apt at using different kinds of weapons. Leorio is also really knowledgeable about medical science.

In the world of One Piece, where almost every single character has a devil fruit, the name of Gol D. Roger stands out. Gol D. Roger was the first person who managed to sail to Laugh Tale and in the process became the Pirate King. Roger did not possess any kind of devil fruit and in fact, he had a mysterious illness, which very likely held him back.

Despite only having his Haki to rely on, Roger managed to achieve the impossible. He was able to fight against the likes of Whitebeard, Shiki, Garp, etc. with just Haki.

8 Guts

Guts is the protagonist of Kentarou Miura's Berserk. He was exposed to a rough environment from an early age. Guts was forced to learn the ways of the sword to stay alive. Despite the many hardships that he faced, Guts continued to live.

As he grew up, Guts became an incredible swordsman, who was able to take down countless enemies on his own. Guts' powers reached new heights after he survived the eclipse, after which he was able to fight enormous monsters without any help. Currently, Guts is among the strongest characters in the series.

7 Sakata Gintoki

Perhaps the most well-rounded shonen protagonist is Sakata Gintoki. He is the lead character of Gintama, which is among the funniest shonen anime. Most of the time, Gintoki comes off as an easygoing person, who has no interest in fighting.

However, he becomes a frightening opponent if someone decides to hurt his friends. During the war against the Amanto, Gintoki rose to fame with his swordsmanship and he was given the title of "White Yaksha." Gintoki has no special powers and he relies on his physical abilities and his skill with the sword to beat his enemies.

6 Thors

History is filled with praise for the Vikings, who were fierce warriors. Vinland Saga is an anime that focuses on a young Viking, Thorfinn, who wants to become a proud warrior. Thorfinn's father Thors was a famed warrior who terrorized every battlefield that he was a part of.

After years of fighting, Thors realized that he was tired of the fighting and decided to fake his death and left to live with his wife. His skill was so immense that he was able to fight against several enemies despite hanging up his shoes countless years ago.

5 Levi Ackerman

Levi Ackerman is one of the main characters of Attack on Titan. He has a very emotional backstory. He went through a rough childhood, where each day, he had to struggle with poverty, hunger, and other hardships. Levi was trained by his uncle, who taught him enough skills to help him to live.

Levi joined the Scout Legion and he became their strongest fighter. Armed with the regular scout gears, Levi was able to bring down several titans without much difficulty. Most notably, he was able to beat the Beast Titan.

4 Spike Spiegel

Spike Spiegel was a talented bounty hunter from Cowboy Bebop. He had no unique abilities that could help him in a fight. Spike's fighting skills allowed him to take down many strong opponents.

His aim with the gun was incredible and he was easily one of the best marksmen in the series. Spike was also apt at operating all kinds of vehicles and used this particular skill to get out of difficult situations.

His physical prowess allowed him to defeat the American forces on his own. Yujiro's power is considered equal to the military might of an entire nation's army. Yujiro also managed to master all kinds of fighting styles, which makes him a very scary opponent.

2 Mumen Rider

Mumen Rider is a hero from One Punch Man. The series itself has ridiculously powerful characters including Garou, Saitama, etc., but Mumen Rider is the only hero who does not have overpowered abilities.

He is a hero who fights for justice, with his regular gear and a cycle. Mumen Rider might not be able to beat extraterrestrials or other powerful villains, but he risks life and limb every time he takes up a task, which is a highly commendable quality.

1 Himura Kenshin

Himura Kenshin is arguably the most well-known swordsman in the anime community. He is the main protagonist of Rurouni Kenshin. He used to be a manslayer, whose name was known throughout the world.

With his swordsmanship, Kenshin was able to slice through steel, and his skills were so impressive that he became an assassin for the government. But, after some time, Kenshin decided to live without any violence in his life.
