Street Fighter’s Ryu Faces ‘Asura’s Wrath’ in Upcoming DLC

By | 5 years ago

Are you one of the few who thought that Asura, protagonist of the upcoming Asura’s Wrath, looks perfectly suited to appear in a fighting game like Street Fighter? If that’s the case, then it may come as no surprise to learn that Street Fighter‘s Ryu and newcomer Asura will indeed face off against one another in some new downloadable content.

Contrary to what the above image may suggest, the extra content won’t be throwing Asura into the realm of street fighting. Instead, the new DLC will bring Ryu into Asura’s Wrath. Capcom released a teaser pic of the upcoming crossover, and gave IGN only a few details on what gamers can expect from the content once it’s made available later this year.

Unfortunately, the details released are borderline non-existent, and likely won’t be surfacing until after Asura’s Wrath is released later next week. Still, Capcom does have a reputation for accidentally releasing information prematurely (i.e. the entire Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 roster), so maybe details on this particular piece of future content will become known sooner rather than later.

The content looks to be aimed towards peaking the interest of SF fans in an attempt to gain even more attention to Asura’s Wrath pre-release. That mission was undoubtedly accomplished, but what could this content mean for the future of both properties? At the very least, we know that Asura can find a home within the Street Fighter roster if his game under performs.

Right now, it’s unknown if other Street Fighters will be joining in on the fray to form somewhat of a mini-fighting mode within Wrath, but hopefully there is more to this content than just a quick epic battle between Ryu and Asura. Whatever Capcom has planned should be made apparent soon though, so keep your eyes on Game Rant for more details (including this content’s release date and price) in the coming future.

Asura’s Wrath will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 21st.
