Street Fighter 5‘s roster continues to expand on both its PC and PlayStation 4 versions, as Capcom has now officially included the Eastern European character known as Kolin as a playable fighter within the game. With this being the case, fans can not only play as Kolin in matches, but also they can experience her story, premium battle, and nostalgia costumes in Street Fighter 5 starting today as well.
The video game publisher and developer Capcom’s description of Kolin paints her as an incredibly formidable foe when it comes to going toe-to-toe with her in combat in Street Fighter 5. Not to mention, the company has detailed her ascension in the ranks from her initial appearance in Street Fighter 3: New Generation as a non-playable character to an actual fighter in SF5, as her origins have fueled her temper to do battle.
“First appearing in Street Fighter 3, Kolin works behind the scenes in order to fulfill the Prophecy of Miraha and stop any who dare stand in Gill’s way. She is typically calm and collected, but can suddenly fly into a rage when anybody threatens Gill and his plans. Spoiler-alert, she resurrects Nash and uses him as a pawn too, showing she will do anything to achieve her goals.”
While Kolin’s backstory is definitely interesting, it’s safe to presume that most Street Fighter 5 fans are more interested in seeing her in action. Thankfully, Capcom has previously provided official footage of her moveset leading up to her inclusion in the game. The clip makes sure to detail Kolin’s ability to manipulate the atmosphere to control the power of ice, which lets her fight with the use of “deadly icicles” and “frigid blasts.” Furthermore, with Kolin’s skills being based in the Russian martial art of Systema, she is a unique fighter in the way that she can use her opponent’s momentum against them.
Fans looking to have Kolin join their rosters in Street Fighter 5 can pick her up in the Season 2 Character pass, which is a package that is priced at $30. This compendium of content not only includes the first Season 2 DLC character, Akuma, but also Kolin and four more fighters that are scheduled to join the cast of fighters sometime at a later date this year.
Beyond the identities of Kolin and Akuma, it’s really anyone’s guess as to which other characters will eventually be included in Street Fighter 5, for in truth, they could come from the storied annuls of the fighting game franchise’s history, or they could perhaps be completely new and never-before-seen faces. Nevertheless, with Capcom having adamantly stated its decision to continue offering post-launch content to Street Fighter 5 for the foreseeable future, there could be a plethora of new characters that no one is expecting, as support for the game could last well into 2020.
Street Fighter 5 is out now for PC and PlayStation 4.
