[SPOILERS FOR STRAY AHEAD]It is always fun when games let players play with a cute dog or pet a cat. However, BlueTwelve Studio's upcoming game, Stray, takes it a step further and lets gamers play as a cat trying to find its way home in a strange, cyberpunk world filled with dingy pubs and cyborgs with CRT monitors for heads. To help the cat finally get home, players will have to solve puzzles, engage in some platforming, and navigate the strange cyborg world the cat finds itself in. Fortunately, it has a drone companion accompanying it who can help make sense of the cyborg society.

As Stray's release date draws nearer, more information on the game has been released, including its trophy list which gives a few clues regarding what players can expect from the eccentric game. The trophy list, filled with cat puns, suggests that a cat-centric time awaits gamers, though they should not expect a lengthy experience, as the trophy list is also quite short. This is not a bad thing, as a short, focused game is always better than a bloated one that overstays its welcome.

The Trophies of Stray

There are twenty-five trophies in total, including the platinum trophy which is automatically unlocked when all the other trophies have been earned. Of those trophies, seven are gold, nine are silver, and eight are bronze. At first glance, the first thing that pops out is just how many cat puns there are, with trophies sporting names such as "Cat-a-strophe" and "Meowlody." However, a closer look reveals that gamers could be in for a very short game, as there is a trophy called "I Am Speed" which players earn for completing the game in under two hours.

Although Stray has open-world elements, the "I Am Speed" trophy suggests it will be possible for players to stick to the main story and make a beeline for the finish if they wish. However, with such an atmospheric world available, it is likely plenty of gamers will prefer to take their time and relish in the experience of being a stray cat lost in a cyberpunk world. The full trophy list for Stray is as follows:

Stray Launches Soon

Stray will soon be available, and players will be able to help a cute kitty find its way home. However, the world of Stray, as enthralling as it may be, is not completely safe. Gamers will have to ward off strikes from Zurks, which are robots that attack in swarms. As BlueTwelve Studio has revealed, being quick will help, but slinking in the shadows will also be useful to survive.

Stray will launch on PlayStation Plus, making it available for all Extra, Premium, and Deluxe subscribers. It is a strange game, but it appears to provide a unique experience worth trying out for the novelty. If it is as short as its trophies suggest, gamers do not risk much trying it out, especially if they are PS Plus subscribers.

Stray releases on 19 July 2022 on PC, PS4, and PS5.
