Annapurna Interactive's latest game, Stray, has gathered a lot of attention in the gaming world for its unique narrative, concept, and setting. Players take on the role of a stray cat whose mission is to survive and escape a walled city full of different types of robots and machines. The game came out a week ago and instantly broke Annapurna's previous Steam record for most concurrent players, with over 62,000 players.

Stray was first announced in 2020 and immediately became a sensation among gamers who were eager to play as a cat. Upon its release, the game was widely praised for its uniqueness, cat gameplay, score, and design, among many other features. Meanwhile, some players had their reservations about it for being too short, as Stray can be completed in roughly eight hours.

Despite coming out only a week ago, Stray has caught the attention of the modding community, which has created amazing mods to suit the cat game. One modder created a Stray mod that turns the cat into Garfield, while another makes the game like Heavy Rain. Similarly, another modder has stepped forward and used their skills to add their real-life cat to the game. Reddit user MrBoptix uploaded a series of images on the platform displaying their modding abilities. The pictures show the user's cat in Stray and a photograph of their real-life cat, which are nearly identical with only negligible differences.

Unsurprisingly, the post received widespread acclaim from fellow Redditors, as shown by hundreds of upvotes with a 99% upvote ratio and several comments. Most users were impressed by MrBoptix's creation and were curious about replicating it. In response, the original poster provided a link to a YouTube video that contains a tutorial on modding Stray. Moreover, some Redditors took it a step forward and wanted to hire MrBoptix to create custom-made cats in Stray. At the same time, a couple of users suggested that developers should add a customizable cat, allowing gamers to play with their favorite breeds.

Many fans have completed the game due to its short length and are hopeful for a Stray sequel. In comparison, others are optimistic about the downloadable content for adding more value to the game, but nothing official has been announced about the same. In the meantime, gamers will resort to altering the game elements using mods like the one created by MrBoptix. As the game gains more traction and popularity, more and more similar mods will come into vogue.

Stray is out now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
