Back in September of 2019, Netflix officially renewed Stranger Things for a fourth season. It even made a spoiler-filled teaser for the season as part of its public announcement.

Despite all of this, however, the streaming service didn't mention when exactly Season 4 would premiere. And it still hasn't, yet the recent quarterly letters that Netflix sent to its investors may shed some light on when fans can expect Stranger Things to return.

Netflix's first-quarter letter recognized that Stranger Things was one of the shows that performed very well during the streamer's third quarter in 2019, which is a formal way of saying that Stranger Things 3's end-of-summer release did really well. Thus, Netflix may be inclined to start a pattern with Stranger Things' seasonal releases.

This pattern involves releasing one season in July, and the next in October. Netflix released the first season of Stranger Things in July of 2016, the second in October of 2017, and the third in July of 2019. If Netflix continues this pattern, Stranger Things 4 will likely stream in October of this year or 2021.

Depending on how the coronavirus situation plays out, the show could also release later in the fourth quarter during November or December. These months would even better coincide with the show's narrative as Mike and Eleven agree to meet up during Thanksgiving or Christmas. And the show premieres on either of these dates, it would follow the same idea as Season 3, which streamed on July 4, the same day the show's most prominent story events took place.
