This article contains spoilers for vol. 1 season 4 of Stranger ThingsBesides wanting to see how the friend group is doing now that they're split up, and hoping that Jim Hopper (David Harbour) is still alive, fans wondered what new characters would join season 4 of Stranger Things. There are a handful of newcomers to the super popular streaming series, including Argyle (Eduardo Franco), who Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) becomes good friends with.

Fans don't know a lot about Argyle, as at first, it seems like all he does is get high and joke around. But as the story goes on, viewers see that Argyle is a significant part of these episodes, as he's more than just someone who delivers pizzas and smokes "smelly plants." Argyle can definitely be considered the best new character in season 4 of Stranger Things.

From Lucas and Max's Stranger Things break-up to remembering who Sam Owens is, there's a lot to keep track of by the time that fans sit down to watch volume 1 of season 4 of the show. Millie Bobby Brown talked about fans getting Stranger Things season 4 answers, and while fans definitely want to learn more about the mystery, sometimes it's also fun to sit back, enjoy the ride, and bask in the glory of some great new characters. Argyle is perfect because he's funny, kind, and becomes part of the group immediately.

Argyle shows that he's a loyal pal when he agrees to drive Will Byers (Noah), Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), and Jonathan to Salt Lake City, Utah to visit Suzie (Gabriella Pizzolo), Dustin Henderson's (Gaten Matarazzo) girlfriend. Argyle doesn't mind the trip at all and, in fact, seems to enjoy feeling like he's part of something special and important. Argyle really shines here. While Suzie tracks an I.P. address and says that the Internet will change the world, as she can figure out where the Nina Project is and lead the group to Eleven, Argyle is immediately drawn to Suzie's sister Eden (Audrey Holcomb). Argyle swoons over her and asks, "Like the garden?" and acts like he never wants to leave. This is such a great moment in an eerie and action-packed season and just works so well.

Argyle also makes fans laugh when, as his job as a pizza delivery driver for Surfer Boy Pizza, he answers the phone and talks about even though the pineapple at the place is canned, it's still delicious and interesting. When he says that he hopes that the customer on the other end of the phone line tries it, viewers can tell that he means it. Since pineapple has been long debated as a pizza topping, this scene is comedy gold. Sure, there are scary creatures in Stranger Things, but the show also has some incredibly funny lines. While the other characters do deliver some great jokes in every season of the show, there's something so hilarious and pure about Argyle. He's a sweet character who is friendly and likes being around other people and just wants to have some fun, which is nice given the supernatural world that the friends have found themselves in while living in Hawkins.

Argyle also serves as an important part of Jonathan's story arc, as Jonathan and Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) are starting to have relationship problems as long-distance is getting to them. It's nice to see that Jonathan has made a new friend and that he feels like he fits in, as it's not easy to move while still in high school. If it wasn't for Argyle, Jonathan's story arc might feel pretty one-note as it would only be about his love life, and it's fun to see him having a good time.

There is a lot happening in volume one of this new season and the season 4 Stranger Things finale will be long and over two hours. This allows the show to have some fun as well as deliver some serious scares, and Argyle is a big part of why fans won't mind watching such long episodes. There's plenty of backstory, new reveals, and moments between beloved characters, and that gives the show room to breathe and introduce new characters like Argyle who bring something unique to the series.

Ultimately, Argyle's long hair, backward baseball cap, and casual clothing really embody a California surfer vibe, and this helps set up this Stranger Things location. It was easy to be nervous about how the show would handle the Byers family and Eleven moving to California, as Hawkins is such a solid setting. But now, after watching volume one of season 4, it's clear that setting some parts of the show in this warm place was a good idea as Argyle is a real joy to watch.
