Regardless of what job players choose when progressing through the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin PS5 demo, they will be able to use their Soul Shield ability to mimic the attacks of enemies. When an enemy starts an attack, the name of certain moves will sometimes appear above their head in purple. If the player uses Soul Shield to block this technique, they will gain it as an Instant Ability to use later. Instant Abilities don't cost any MP or Break Gauge to cast, but can only be used a limited number of times.

In total, there are eight different Instant Abilities in this short demo alone, so there's no telling how many there will be in the full game of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. In order to see these abilities for themselves, players will need to know where to get them and what they all do. Abilities are listed in the order they can be found in the PS5 demo.

Stone Throw - Goblin - 3x

SoP FFO Demo enemy weaknesses

The Stone Throw ability comes from any of the basic Goblin enemies. These are the weakest enemy type in the demo, and they will occasionally back up to throw rocks at the player. Blocking one with Soul Shield will yield the Stone Throw ability with three uses. When an enemy is hit with Stone Throw, they take significant Break Gauge damage.

Pelt - Goblin Guard - 2x

Pelt is similar to Stone Throw but the attack has a shotgun-like spread. This can only be obtained from the Goblin Guard that spawns from the first Darkness Vent in the demo.

Fire - Bomb - 3x

All Bomb enemies in the demo can cast Fire on the player. Using Soul Shield will convert this into an Instant Ability that can then be used three times. It does high fire type HP damage and Break Gauge damage, and can be used to overcharge Bombs and make them self destruct.

Supersonic Screech - Leech Bat - 2x

Leech Bats can use a Supersonic Screech ability to damage anyone within range, but this move can be guarded with Soul Shield and learned as an Instant Ability. HP damage on this technique is very low, but it will almost break most normal enemies on normal mode.

Bone Crush - Skeleton - 2x

SoP FFO Demo Enemy Weaknesses

Skeletons have the unique ability to block the player's attacks. After blocking two hits, the Skeleton will counterattack with the Bone Crush ability, but the player can learn it as an Instant Ability if they Soul Shield it. This is an extremely close range attack that deal high HP and Break Gauge damage.

Wind Blade - Griffon - 1x

SoP FFO Demo Enemy Weaknesses

Although it doesn't use it often, Griffons can fly into the sky and fire a wind blade at the player. As an Instant Ability, this attack deals Aero damage to the target from a long range.

1000 Needles - Cactuar - 1x

Weaknesses and resistances of cactuar stranger of paradise

The trademark ability of the Cactuar is 1000 Needles, and players can get this for themselves. The ability doesn't seem to be very effective against a small enemy like a Cactuar, but can wreak havoc on larger enemies like Griffons or even Garland.

Blaze - Garland - 2x

Everything you need to know to beat Garland Stranger of Paradise

Finally, Garland himself will cast Blaze on the player. Using Soul Shield on one of these attacks will grant the player the Blaze spell to use two times against Garland. Not only does this provide an easy way to damage him from afar, but it will also melt Garland's Ice Sword during the second phase of the fight.
