Every time a new game is revealed or released, one of the first things that players want to know is whether or not it has any kind of multiplayer features. Regardless of if players prefer competitive multiplayer or jolly cooperation, multiplayer itself is always a highly requested feature. Even so, there are many games that opt to skip over this feature and focus on crafting a single player narrative instead. With the PS5 demo of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin here now, multiplayer fanatics are wondering if the game is made for them.

It's important to note that Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is still in development and won't be releasing until some time in 2022. Because of this, players should take any information from the demo with a grain of salt, as it's possible (likely even) that things will change before the full release.

To cut right to the chase, the Final Fantasy Origin demo is singleplayer only. At the moment, there is no way to play the game with friends, as Jack's party members are computer controlled. The demo only takes players through the Shrine of Chaos area and no further, so it's impossible to say whether or not multiplayer is unlocked later on in the game. Once again, this is just a demo of a game that isn't set to release until 2022, so that could change by the time the full game releases, but players shouldn't get their hopes up.

How to prepare for garland boss fight

So far, neither Square Enix nor Team Ninja have made any comments about plans for multiplayer in Final Fantasy Origin, so it hasn't been confirmed or deconfirmed. Playing through the demo it becomes easy to see that there are definitely some missing features, however. For example, players can't see the hit points or status of their party members, and there's not even any way to go in and customize their equipment or stats. These things will likely be added later, and perhaps at that point the issue of multiplayer will be addressed.

The game would definitely lend itself well to multiplayer, although it should be noted that the story makes it clear Jack is the only one capable of performing the Soul Crush technique. Even so, allowing two other players to join in on the fun, unlock and level up jobs, and customize equipment would be a great move for Square Enix when it comes to this game.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin releases in 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
