Throughout the early game in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin players should try to experiment with all of the basic Jobs and find a handful that matches their particular play style. Whether it's ranged magic, fast melee weapons, or big slow heavy weapons; each player is likely going to find a pairing that they find enjoyable for the majority of the levels (though they might want to remain flexible for particular boss fights).

Tons of weapons will drop in each of the early Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin missions, which should help players gain access to all of the basic Jobs within the first few hours of play. It's highly recommended that players take some time to visit the ??? mission (just south of Cornelia) to equip different Jobs and practice with them to get comfortable with the new abilities and play styles associated with each option. Players can also revisit the other early missions and experiment with various Jobs by fighting Bikke or the Black Knight again with a different load out.

As players advance into the mid-game, they should have put in enough time with their favorite Jobs to start unlocking some Advanced Jobs. This is where things really start to get interesting. There are obviously tons of different combinations of Jobs and Advanced Jobs for players to experiment with and each player will have their favorites, but there are a few combinations that are worth recommending given their power level and flexibility. The following pairings are actually some options that the game's director, Daisuke Inoue, recommends players give a shot during the mid-game at some point...

Mid-Game Job Pairings To Try

Monk + Dragoon

  • The Monk’s reach is limited, but it gets around quickly, so you can engage with a hit-and-run style while catching enemies off guard and laying down the punches in one go.
  • The Dragoon can battle from medium distances using the spear’s reach and dive into an enemy’s space with Jump
  • By combining both Jobs’ strengths, you can dive into the fray from afar with the Dragoon’s Jump, then switch to Monk to unleash a flurry of close-range attacks.
  • Above all, the Monk’s command ability Chakra can be used to reverse status ailments, and applies resistance effects, so it will surely be useful against enemies that inflict status ailments in the middle stages and onward.

Berserker + White Mage

  • Berserker can easily stagger their enemy and, most importantly, is less likely to get staggered from receiving an enemy’s attack. Therefore, this allows you to steadily cut your way through while swinging your weapon around and blasting away enemies.
  • While you will be able to attack without worrying about the enemy’s offense, you will naturally become more susceptible to receiving attacks. However, you can offset this by utilizing the White Mage’s recovery and support abilities.
  • The White Mage is also able to unleash offensive magic, so it’s quite appealing since you’ll be able to keep enemies in check with offensive magic, even while you distance yourself from them to recover

Different pairings will appeal to different types of players, but both of these options excel at offering versatility and some really strong abilities that can help players protect themselves from enemies and recover from a beating in a hurry.
